Americans on Twitter: Biden must “resign in disgrace.”
The news about Biden withdrawing the U.S. troops from Afghanistan is a sign of defeat as the Taliban fighters took over its capital, Kabul, on Sunday.
After 20 years of continuous support of sending military troops and equipment to Afghanistan, U.S. President Joe Biden abandoned the country. This tragic ending serves as a wasted effort of the America and the Afghanistan government’s long dominance and resistance against its conquerors, leaving a bad reputation to Biden and his administration.
“Decades from now, these images will be invoked as a vivid example of the limits of U.S. power and of its inability to fight modern wars effectively or to end them on favorable terms,” told Michael Kugelman, an Afghanistan scholar, to the Washington Post.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump, the presidential opponent of Biden, also expressed his dismay for the Afghanistan abandonment and other mishandled political concerns of the current president. “It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” says Trump.
It is not only the news of the withdrawal from Afghanistan that enraged the Americans and the rest of the world, but also the fact that Biden is currently on vacation during this time of failure. Hence, the world raises its voices out that dominated Twitter with #BidenResign.
