The “Solar Power” singer has canceled her performance at MTV’s upcoming 2021 VMAs and it was announced on VMAs twitter account on Friday.
“Due to a change in production elements, Lorde can no longer perform at this year’s show. We love Lorde and cannot wait for her to perform on the VMA stage in the future!”

Lorde last made that big appearance at the VMAs in 2017, when she played out her Melodrama track “Homemade Dynamite” and left fans confused as she just does an interpretive-style dance while the music is on the background rather than really singing.
She afterwards clarified she was battling the flu on Twitter and also said, “People got, like, so angry about me performing at the VMAs. I just danced. I just danced! And I danced with full f—ing joy… Some people were like, ‘We get it, we love it.’ And some people were like, ‘This is offensive that I have to watch this.'”
It wasn’t exactly explained what “production elements” are holding her back from taking the stage but her third studio album “Solar Power” is nominated for “Best Cinematography” at this year’s VMAs.
