R&B Singer Jaheim Arrested For Animal Cruelty

The singer appeared to abandon his dogs in his New Jersey Home.

Jaheim Hoagland, better known as Jaheim, has been arrested after more than a dozen dogs were discovered living in vile conditions at his New Jersey home, with one being euthanized following the bleak disclosure, as indicated by authorities’ report acquired by PEOPLE.

Cops responded to Hoagland’s home Monday morning to investigate a report of a “puppy in distress” and wound up discovering six canines in the carport according to specialists.

According to the Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson, one of the dogs was at first lethargic in a water-filled crate and later must be euthanized.

“Additional dogs were found inside of separate crates which were partially filled with several inches of water and dog feces,” the examiner said in a news discharge.

The dog who was found unresponsive in the crate is a mixed-breed pit bull terrier and had to be euthanized, according to officials, while the two other dogs were moved to a veterinarian clinic for emergency treatment due to their helpless condition.

Hoagland had already been arrested on an inconsequential matter outside of his home when police discovered nine additional dogs in “varying stages of emaciation” without admittance to “food and water” inside the residence, prosecutors said.

Altogether, authorities recuperated 12 mixed-breed pit bull terriers, two American Staffordshire terriers and one mixed-breed boxer, Robertson furthermore shared.

All 14 surviving dogs have since been taken to a local kennel for examination. An investigation is ongoing, as stated by PEOPLE.

The 44-year-old artist has been charged with third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal, a disorderly person’s offense. Hoagland was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a Superior Court detention hearing and could not be reached for a comment.
