Patrick Dempsey “Terrorizing the Set” Leads To His Brutal Grey’s Anatomy’s Exit

Dempsey's Brutal Exit In Grey's Anatomy Revealed

Dr. Cristina Yang was right when she said to Dr. Meredith Grey that he may be very dreamy but he’s not the sun.

The rom-com actor was a series regular from 2005 until 2015 where he played the iconic Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd

Lynette Rice’s new book, “How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey’s Anatomy,” where makers, previous cast individuals, and even Patrick talked about his experience on the show and is revealing insight into why the entertainer purportedly left the series after his notorious flight during Season 11 of the long-running ABC clinical dramatization, “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Executive producer Jeannine uncovered that there were times where Ellen Pompeo who played Dr. Meredith Grey “was frustrated with Patrick and she would get angry that he wasn’t working as much,” and later added, “She would get angry that he wasn’t working as much… she was very big on having things be fair. She just didn’t like that Patrick would complain that ‘I’m here too late’ or ‘I’ve been here too long’ when she had twice as many scenes in the episode as he did.”

Renshaw also revealed that series maker Shonda Rhimes “had to say to the network, ‘If he doesn’t go, I go.’ Nobody wanted him to leave because he was the show. Him and Ellen.”

According to the former executive producer for Grey’s, James D. Parriott, things were exceptionally tense among Patrick and Shonda via season 11. “Shonda needed an OG to come in as sort of a showrunner for fourteen episodes.”

“There were HR issues. It wasn’t sexual in any way. He sort of was terrorizing the set. Some cast members had all sorts of PTSD with him. He had this hold on the set where he knew he could stop production and scare people. The network and studio came down and we had sessions with them. I think he was just done with the show. He didn’t like the inconvenience of coming in every day and working. He and Shonda were at each other’s throats.”

Patrick has a remark with respect to his conduct on set in the book that peruses, “It’s ten months, fifteen hours a day. You never know your schedule, so your kid asks you, ‘What are you doing on Monday?’ And you go, ‘I don’t know,’ because I don’t know my schedule.”

“Doing that for eleven years is challenging. But you have to be grateful, because you’re well compensated, so you can’t really complain because you don’t really have a right. You don’t have control over your schedule. So, you have to just be flexible.”

Grey’s Anatomy is in its eighteenth season and three characters who recently left the show will before long be returning. Patrick himself even returned last season even after his person Dr. Derek Shepherd was killed off in episode 21 of season 11.

Reactions to Patrick Dempsey “Terrorizing the Set” Lead To His Brutal Grey’s Anatomy’s Exit

Patrick Dempsey wanted off the show. At the same time this is the life of an actor. Long hours. He was away from his family when he was racing cars and filming different movies after 2015. I’m so confused. #Greys

@patrickdempsea

haven’t been on this twitter in a hot minute but anyone knows that this is complete and utter bullshit. patrick dempsey has always been praised by co-stars. however, shonda rhimes has always had a personal vendetta against him.

@merdersmemories

I guarantee if a woman conducted herself the way Patrick Dempsey did, there would be no softening of her behavior or excusing it as her being overworked. Ridiculous.

@SourceRyan

Patrick Dempsey was about to go through a divorce while being severely over worked and over tired meanwhile Ellen Pompeo was going around complaining about him?? Weird behaviour are we surprised

@heavymetalcver

boycotting Greys, stan Patrick Dempsey he deserves better

@greysanatommy4L

Every single actor Patrick Dempsey worked talk about how great he is since 30 YEARS and now they said some HR issues GA IS GARBAGE I WILL BOYCOTT THEY I WILL WATCH ONLY FOR PATRICK RETURN. I DIDN'T WATCH GA FOR MER I WATCH FOR HIM DER MD CHEMISTRY.

@TeamMerDer4ever

If I had to work 15 hours a day I would be an ass too. I refuse to believe Patrick Dempsey was terrorizing the set. He just wanted to be done and @EllenPompeo didn’t like it. In the non Hollywood world some people don’t like their boss and coworkers #GreysAnatomy
