Barbara Corcoran Apologizes For Body Shaming Remark To Whoopi Goldberg

Her dreadful joke was made during the current week's portion of The View.

Everything began during Whoopi Goldberg and Ana Navarro’s appearance on Thursday’s scene of “The View”.

Corcoran discussed Emma Grede, the originator and CEO of denim brand Good American who is set to be the principal Black, female visitor shark on Shark Tank with the show’s co-hosts Sara Haines, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin.

They were all going wild over a “great” pair of jeans to which Goldberg inquired, “Well, I have to try them,” joking, “Will they fit this COVID [butt]?”

After Hostin and Navarro assured the jeans would fit her, she added, “OK, just thought I would ask… OK, if they fit three, no, two COVID butts, we’ll be fine.” However, Corcoran chimes in and drops the offensive joke.

“When you get finished with those jeans, and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’m gonna make two pairs,” the Shark Tank star said.

Goldberg appeared unamused and speechless. Navarro promptly went to her co-host’s defense by mocking Corcoran’s floral dress.

“Whoopi, let me just tell you something. Both Sara Haines and Jill Biden wore that dress already, on TV,” Navarro quipped.

After the specific clip went viral on social media, Corcoran immediately took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to say sorry.

“I just came back from The View and saw my old friend Whoopi,” the entrepreneur began. “She has a phenomenal sense of humor, and I’ve known Whoopi for years,” she said in her apology video.

She added, “I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, which I now realize wasn’t funny. For anyone who I may have offended unintentionally, I just wanted to say I really am very sorry.”

Goldberg replied to the apology video referring to her as a long time friend saying that she knows her humor and aware that she was kidding. Corcoran then quoted the reply with, “You’re terrific Whoopi! And as always, a class act. Thank you”
