What could be the purpose for why she tweeted it?

Emmy winner Debra Messing is demonstrating her innocence over past remark about “Saturday Night Live” choice of picking Kim Kardashian-West as one of their hosts.

“Why Kim Kardashian?” she tweeted after “SNL” declared Kim will be a piece of the show’s host setup. “I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but ‘SNL’ has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch.”

During the entertainer far off appearance on the “Tamron Hall Show,” she explained that the tweet didn’t mean any mischief or does exclude cynicism.

“Well, I was not intending to troll her, and you know if anybody took it that way, I apologize,” Messing told Hall. “That was never my intention. She is this phenomenon. I mean, you know, she is a cultural icon.”

“I am someone who grew up with ‘SNL.’ I love comedy,” Messing proceeded. “And they have had for decades this sort of formula, and I noticed that they changed the formula. And I was like, ‘Oh, does she have a new TV show coming out? Does she have a book coming out? Does she have a movie?’ And she didn’t have anything coming out; actually, her TV show had just wrapped.”

“I was just confused, and I thought, ‘I have been living under a rock, I don’t have my finger on the pulse of pop culture,’” she further added.

“So, I was like, ‘Has she been doing something on the side that I’m not aware of because I’ve been so focused on activism?’ Clearly it was interpreted differently.”

The “Will & Grace” star also revealed that she did watch the SKIMS founder “SNL” episode and was rooting for her.

“If you know me and you follow me, then you know that I consistently lift up women. I support women, so I hope that people understand that that was never my intention.”

Reactions to Debra Messing Apologizes To Kim Kardashian Over SNL Hosting Diss

Everyone, STOP Apologizing. Say what you mean and live with it. If you are in the public eye you must be tough enough to take the hits. KK takes her criticism all the way to the bank.

“Bitter has-been jealous of gorgeous billionaire.” @DebraMessing

I don’t think that was disrespectful at all. Debra probably should’ve trolled it under an anonymous account, though—

I'm not a fan of Kim K, but let's not pretend that Debra Messing is unproblematic herself.
