“General Hospital” Actress Bergen Williams Has Died At The Age Of 62

Laura Lynn “Bergen” Williams, who is most recognized for her role on the ABC daytime soap series “General Hospital” as Alice Gunderson, the Quartermaine family’s maid, has passed away. She was 62 years old at the time.

The actress died of Wilson’s disease on July 20th, according to her sister, who revealed it on Twitter on Tuesday. “Bergen Williams succumbed to the ravages of Wilson’s Disease surrounded by loving family,” the statement reads.

Following the announcement of Williams’ death, her sister began posting condolences to the actress on social media, one of which is a retweet from a scene on “General Hospital,” where she composed: “Bergen LOVED her fans and #GH. The response and outpouring of love from fans to her passing has been very heartwarming and would have made her so happy.”

Kimberly McCullough, Williams’ former General Hospital co-star, also paid respect to the actress on Wednesday as she wrote, “Bergen was an incredible force to be reckoned with and I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. Blessings to Bergen’s family and close friends.”

In her own farewell, another GH actress, Nancy Lee Grahn, shared a short clip of Alice kissing her Grahn’s anonymous character on Instagram with the caption, “Best kiss evah! RIP dear Bergen. @generalhospitalabc.”

Bergen Williams began her acting career in television and cinema by having tiny appearances in primetime shows including “NYPD Blue,” “7th Heaven, Scrubs,” “Nip/Tuck,” and “Babylon 5.” In 2014, she made her last appearance on General Hospital.

Wilson’s illness is a rare, genetic ailment in which copper builds up in key organs including the brain. While the condition is manageable if caught early, it can lead to liver failure, renal issues, and death.
