During a performance in Los Angeles, the singer spoke out about her miscarriage.
Jessie J had a heartbreaking performance on Wednesday night in Los Angeles for The Hotel Cafe’s acoustic event, after disclosing her miscarriage on Instagram. She shared her own struggles with the audience during the occasion.
“I was told a long time ago that I couldn’t have children and I never believed it,” she said as seen and heard in video snippets uploaded by her fans in social media. “I don’t believe in lies.”
“I decided to have a baby by myself and by a miracle it worked for a while and yesterday it was f***ing s***,” she continued.
“This year has been hands down the hardest year I’ve ever had to get through … I lost my baby and I know I’m going to be OK.”
The “Masterpiece” singer then reminisced on her difficult year, including hearing loss in December 2020, which led to a diagnosis of Ménière’s illness, admitted to losing her voice, which she described as “f–king awful” adding that she “didn’t know who [she] was” when she wasn’t performing, and now, her baby.
“I know I’m going to be OK because there is really nothing else to choose in the way I live.”
Jessie then, thanked her audience for making her feel less alone in her grief after her miscarriage. “I wanted to be here tonight because the one thing I believe in the most in this whole entire universe, beyond surface conversations and Instagram and the internet, is being human and being vulnerable and being real,” she said.

Imagine finding out the baby you’ve worked so hard to conceive has passed away and then getting up on stage the very next night. @JessieJ is a warrior. It doesn’t make anyone who can’t do this weak, but she’s certainly strong. Artists are real people. Don’t forget that. https://t.co/DVMpdvzsRU— The Rock Fairy 🤘🏻🧚🏻♀️ (@TheRockFairyHQ) November 25, 2021
