A six-month jail sentence might be imposed if the accusation is proven.
Los Angeles police confirmed to CBS News on Thursday that the rapper previously known as Kanye West is the key suspect in a battery investigation. The probe comes from an incident that occurred early Thursday morning in downtown Los Angeles.
FOX 11 broke the story first, reporting that a fan approached West to ask for an autograph when the Donda rapper “jumped out of his car” and “punched him, knocking him to the ground.”
The incident is being investigated as a misdemeanor battery, which has a potential prison penalty of six months, as per TMZ, which cited police sources.
West was also seen with actress Julia Fox at West Hollywood’s Delilah nightclub earlier in the evening, but left the place while her girl stayed.
TMZ also acquired footage of an enraged ‘Ye’ yelling, “Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not? Cuz that’s what happened right f****** now,” sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
