Our heartfelt sympathies go out to her family and friends. May she rest comfortably in peace.
Jane “Nightbirde” Marczewski, a singer who rose to prominence after appearing on “America’s Got Talent” last year, has died following a cancer battle. The devastating news comes after she pulled out of the competition in August.
The singer died Sunday, according to a person with firsthand knowledge who spoke to TMZ, while seeking treatment for the condition. The publication also obtained a portion of a statement from her family.
“Those who knew her enjoyed her larger-than-life personality and sense of humor. She had a witty joke for every occasion — even if the joke was on her. Her lasting legacy will be the gift of hope she communicated through music and the strength she found in Jesus,” the statement read.
The reality show America’s Got Talent shared their own tribute to the aspiring singer on Instagram, “Your voice, your story, and your message touched millions. Nightbirde will always be a member of the AGT family. Rest In Peace, Jane.”
“AGT” judge Howie Mandel expressed his sorrow in a tweet on Monday, “@_nightbirde was such a bright inspirational light in all our lives,” he wrote. “we must continue to live and learn from her words and lyrics. As much as I feel horribly about her passing I feel lucky to to have met, heard and known her.”
Terry Crews, the show’s host, also offered his homage. “We are saddened to learn about @_nightbirde’s Passing,” he wrote. “Our Condolences goes to her Closest Family & Friends in such of This difficult time. We Love you, Nightbirde.”
Nightbirde also won an ‘AGT’ golden buzzer which was awarded to her by Simon Cowell in June of last year, advancing her to the final round of the talent competition, after playing her own song, “It’s Okay,” which is about “the story of the last year of my life.”
