Taron Egerton Gives Health Update After Collapsing on Stage

Golden Globe-winning actor Taron Egerton collapsed on stage during the opening night performance of his new play “Cock” at the Ambassadors Theatre in London on Saturday evening.

According to a statement obtained by Independent from a member of the audience, one of Egerton’s co-stars abruptly ended the opening night act and lowered the safety curtain, leaving the audience waiting for news on his condition.

“As some of you may have heard, I passed out during the first performance of ‘Cock’ last night,” the Kingsman actor said on his Instagram story. “I am completely fine. Slightly sore neck and a bruised ego but I’m fine.”

“I’ve decided to put a positive spin on it and I would appreciate it if anyone who was in the theatre last night just said that I gave such a committed, electrifying performance that my body couldn’t handle it and checked out,” his post added.

“That being said, apparently you’re meant to do the full show and not just three quarters of it. So I’ll be back with a vengeance tomorrow night.”

The ‘Rocketman’ actor also acknowledged people who were around him at that time, his “Cock” colleagues, including the crew and his co-stars. Harper-Jackson was also praised for pitching in to finish Saturday’s performance.

“Cock” is a reprise of a 2009 drama that follows Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey as he struggles to cope with his sexuality and his long-term relationship with M, portrayed by Egerton. When the latter falls in love with a woman, a love triangle emerges.
