“Foo Fighters” Drummer Taylor Hawkins Dead At 50

Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighters’, Alanis Morissette’s, and his own band’s drummer, died at the age of 50. On social media late Friday night, the Foo Fighters acknowledged his untimely passing.

“The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins,” the post reads. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.”

“Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”

On Friday, Hawkins was discovered lifeless in a hotel room at the Four Seasons Casa Medina in Bogota. According to a story from Colombia that claimed government information obtained by the New York Post, numerous drugs were discovered in the room where the drummer died.

“The health professional who attended the emergency indicated that they performed the respective resuscitation maneuvers,” the city’s health secretary said in a statement in Spanish. “However, there was no response and the patient was declared deceased.”

A toxicology test conducted from Hawkin’s urine found 10 distinct chemicals, including opiates, tricyclic antidepressants, and benzodiazepines, as per the Attorney General’s Office in Bogotá, Colombia. His case will be pursued by investigators indefinitely.

On Sunday night, Hawkins and his Foo Fighters colleagues were slated to headline Lollapalooza Brazil. At the time of his death, Dave Grohl and other members of the band were in Colombia for a number of events.

Hawkins was candid about his past issues with addiction, including surviving a heroin overdose in 2001. On social media, tributes flooded through, including one from Miley Cyrus, who said she would devote her show to the drummer.
