The Oscars producer has finally spoken out about what occurred after the incident during the ceremony.
Los Angeles police were prepared to arrest Will Smith for battery when he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, according to Producer Will Packer in a preview clip for his upcoming interview with “Good Morning America.”
“They were saying, you know, ‘This is battery,’ was the word they use in that moment,” Packer said. “They said, ‘We will go get him; we are prepared. We’re prepared to get him right now. You can press charges. We can arrest him.’”
“They were laying out the options, and as they were talking, Chris was being very dismissive of those options. He was like, “No, I’m fine.” He was like, “No, no, no,”‘ the producer added.
As we previously reported, Rock declined to file an assault and battery police case against Smith after the incident, but he has the option to do so at a later date if he changes his mind. The award show’s organizers, on the other hand, are conducting an official investigation into the occurrence.
Smith, who received his first Academy Award for best actor for his portrayal in “King Richard” following the onstage assault, could face ‘disciplinary proceedings’ with Oscar authorities, which might result in suspension, expulsion, or other consequences, as reported by The Daily Mail.
Will has since apologized for his actions on the night of the awards. Chris, on the other hand, indicated during his act on Wednesday night that he’s still digesting what happened and that he’ll address it later on his comedy tour.

The fact that Chris Rock stopped them is the sign that it wasn’t that serious. This is between them, the media needs to move on already

Chris Needs to sue Will Smith. That exchange, that slap and the video of that exchange will be part of his life forever. He humiliated, embarrassed and hurt Chris. People learn to understand “damages” when they are hit in their pockets.
