Comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish has been very open when it comes to her weight loss journey. She is often documenting the progress that she made on her Instagram account. In November 2020, she also joined a 30-day fitness program in order to cut off some pounds.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the comedian said that the late Olympian Florence Griffith Joyner inspired her to lose weight. The program, which was called Luther Freeman’s 30-Day Transformation, helped her to build muscles.

“I had this thought in my mind that I want the body of Flo-Jo!” she said.

At the time, the actress revealed she managed to lose 40 pounds after previously weighing 182 pounds on her birthday in 2019. Her weight loss journey proved fruitful when she lost an additional 10 pounds three weeks after joining the said program.

“I’m stronger than I thought I was. I definitely have more endurance than I thought I have,” Tiffany said in one of her Instagram lives.

The Luther Freeman’s 30Day Transformation program offers personalized nutrition and fitness plan. The plan’s primary goal is to evaluate the body mass index (BMI) and lifestyle. Through this, you will be able to create a personalized plan which features nutrition tips and workouts.

“I was going to bed at 8 or 9:00, waking up at 2:00, working out for like 30 minutes,” she revealed.

At 3 in the morning, she will be taking a quick shower and then head to work. She admitted that the schedule was difficult for her, and there were times she was crying. But, she always reminds herself that she’s in control of her mind, and her mind controls her body.

In her 30-day transformation, the actress followed a specific vegan diet and admitted that it wasn’t easy. She shared that they gave her whole vegan menu, and she cooked it for herself. Meanwhile, she said that she usually enjoys juices.

The comedian’s home garden has celery, strawberries, Swiss chard, kale, and more. Whenever she’s traveling, Tiffany enjoys her turmeric and ginger tea. As for her snacks, she likes pickles, nuts, or fruits. After the 30-day fitness program, she enjoyed eating meat in moderation.

Tiffany wanted to promote healthy eating since she grew up in a “food desert,” an area with short supplies of fruits and vegetables. She told Women’s Health that In South Central Los Angeles, there aren’t a lot of options when it comes to healthy food.

“It’s really difficult to eat healthy over there,” she noted.

For instance, she eats an egg or an avocado topped with pico de gallo during breakfast. Her favorite drink in a day is the water from four coconuts, sometimes about five. Generally, Tiffany wants fresh produce when it comes to her diet.

She doesn’t have a specific meal for her lunch and dinner and said that it all depends on what she’s feeling. Yet, she added that she prefers to have Caesar salad, soup, or last night’s leftovers for lunch. Aside from the coconut water, she drinks around a gallon of water every day.

Tiffany cooks whatever she wants to eat for dinner, and she gets creative with it. Some of her favorite foods she often prepares include wild rice made with vegan butter, stews, chicken fried in grapeseed oil, steamed vegetables, and stir fries. There were times that she preferred a taco bowl.

On the other hand, the actress’ go-to snacks are walnuts and almonds. However, she likes to enjoy a Snickers bar, a bag of Cheetos, or Slim Jim on her long days. Moreover, she is a fan of vitafusion gummies, which helped her keep a healthy diet.
