After playing her role in "Dum Laga Ke Haisha," Bhumi Pednekar managed to lose weight

Pednekar began with her weight loss journey when the romantic-comedy movie was done filming. She’s been vocal to her fans about what she went through. She often shares tips on achieving a healthy figure and documents the process on her social media accounts.

Reportedly, the actress weighed 89 kilograms while doing the film in 2015. After working on the movie, she lost weight and was down to 57 kilograms. That means she lost 37 kilograms in less than a year. Many were stunned and surprised as she appeared slimmer when she accepted her award.

Pednekar lost weight and she did it without weight loss surgery, diet pills, or fad diets. Her slimmer figure was all because of a healthy diet and following a specific workout regimen. She specifically controlled her carbohydrate intake even though she never deprived herself of eating anything.

“I followed my regular diet, exercised portion control, and was very particular about not bingeing. I had a cheat meal every five days,” the Indian actress said, per StyleCraze.

Bhumi Pednekar avoided unhealthy sweets to lose weight

Pednekar revealed that she never went to a nutritionist or a dietician but admitted that she used Google and her mother’s vast knowledge of food to lose weight. She said that the most effective way to lose weight is eating home-cooked meals.

The actress added that reducing her refined sugar intake was “one of the best decisions” she ever made in her life. She had a hard time staying away from sweets – particularly meetha – at first, but she figured that there were a lot of available healthy options out there.

“It’s just about opting for the healthier bottle. Why not have a brownie that’s amazing to taste but also beneficial to the body? Be it raw honey or stevia, these natural sweeteners are a boon and affordable too,” she noted.

Pednekar said that raw honey is good for digestion and is packed with calcium, potassium, zinc, and vitamin B6. She also suggested adding it to either milk, oats, salad dressing, or nimbu paani. But, she warned not to cook it at high temperatures since the nutrients and taste might be lost.

The actress further recommends other alternatives, such as coconut sugar and maple syrup. However, even though these are healthy options, they should still be taken in moderation. Having too much of them could have an adverse effect on the body.

Pednekar also hydrates herself by drinking 7 liters of water per day. She’s been trying detox water, which cleanses and detoxifies the body. It contains lemon, which boosts immunity; mint, which aids digestion; and cucumber, which is good for the skin.

“In short, it’s good for you. Just remove it from the fridge in a couple of hours, strain the liquid and just pop it your sipper and keep sipping on it,” she added.

What is Bhumi Pednekar's healthy diet plan and workout regimen?

The actress begins her day with a glass of warm or detox water for breakfast. After 30 minutes, she eats muesli with skimmed milk and flax or sunflower seeds. Before she goes to the gym, she’ll have a “king-sized breakfast,” consisting of whole-wheat bread with two egg white omelets and fruit.

Pednekar’s lunch is a simple home-cooked wholesome food, including roti, sabzi, and dal. The actress made it clear that she consumes healthy versions of these foods. For example, her rotis are made with bajra, jowar, nachni, soya, chana, or rajgira – not wheat.

To make her meal even healthier, she advised mixing all these grains together to create a “power-packed multi grain roti.” Her other options for lunch are grilled chicken, brown bread vegetables, hummus with cucumber and carrots, and homemade chicken gravy.

Pednekar prefers to eat a healthier version of her snacks, as well. From 4 to 4:30 P.M., she enjoys her half papaya, apple, pear, or guava. An hour after eating her fruit snack, she will drink a cup of green tea with a few almonds or walnuts.

The actress’ dinner was light and simple. She eats a big bowl of salad with all salad greens at 7 P.M. She adds apple, walnuts, or dried berries and dresses it with olive oil and balsamic vinegar or some olive chili oil with garlic and mustard, or some apple cider vinegar.

At 8:30 P.M., Pednekar will have grilled fish or chicken. When she wants to eat something vegan, she’ll have a “grilled or slightly pan cooked paneer/tofu, stir fried or steamed vegetables with a small cup of brown rice, or a thin multigrain roti.”

Aside from eating healthy foods, Pednekar makes sure that she goes to the gym to keep her body moving. The actress does cardio and weights to burn the calories and fats that she gained, improve her muscle strength, and stay fit.

She said it’s important to move around rather than sit and stay in one place for long hours. If you cannot go to the gym, Pednekar noted that you could try the basic things such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or just walking frequently to keep moving.
