“Love Island” Fans Are Concern About Davide And Gemma 8-Year Age Gap

Only a few episodes into the program, and it's already making a stir on social media.

The eight-year age disparity between “Love Island” Gemma and Davide is causing controversy among fans. Davide paired up with Gemma, the daughter of football legend Michael Owen and the show’s youngest contestant at barely 19 years old.

However, the idea, particularly their eight-year age difference, did not sit well with viewers, who quickly aired their displeasure on social media. Viewers were much more outraged when the two kissed, threatening to file a complaint with Ofcom.

“IF 27 OLD DAVIDE COUPLES UP WITH 19 YEAR OLD GEMMA OFCOM WILL BE HEARING FROM ME. #LoveIsland,” one Twitter user wrote, while another user tweeted: “Does davide know gemma is 19 cause it’s giving uncomfy #LoveIsland.”

“Watching Gemma & Davide makes me ✨ uncomfortable ✨ the age gap is so apparent & I’m sorry but there’s not a single bit of personality between them😂 it’s so dead. There is no chemistry,no HUMOUR no FUN. Its all surface level & feels forced. But that’s my opinion🤷🏻‍♀️ #LoveIsland,” a third person added.

Another user also tweeted: “8 year age gap between davide and gemma. if he moves to her he’s a PEDO #loveisland.”

Liam Llewellyn, a Master’s student from South Wales, was previously Gemma’s partner. Davide, on the other hand, was granted the authority to pair up with any woman he wanted when he entered the villa on Tuesday’s episode.

“I decided to couple up with this girl because there’s not just attraction,” he explained before revealing who he chose. “Yes, she’s a stunning girl but I felt like we really had a good time and I would like to know her more. So the girl I would like to couple up with is Gemma.”

Liam soon got a text message informing him that he was now single and that he would be kicked off the Island.

Fans in the United States may watch “Love Island” on Hulu. However, episodes are usually not available until two weeks after they premiere in the United Kingdom. The news was first reported by Page Six.
