This news comes after she recently denied rumors that they have broken up.

Michelle Young, the former Bachelorette star, and her now-ex-fiancé Nayte Olukoya have chosen to call it quits after less than a year of engagement. Both of them took to social media to address their breakup and give their followers an update on their relationship.

“To those who have supported Nayte and and I, including Bachelor Nation, I know I speak for the both of us when saying having a relationship in the public eye has not been easy,” Michelle began her statement posted on her Instagram stories.

“I’m struggling to say that Nayte and I will be going our separate ways but I stand with him in knowing the heaviness that is present in both of our hearts as this relationship has been very real for us.”

She went on to claim that Nayte immediately became her bestfriend and that her love for him is “incredibly strong,” and that she would never stop wanting to see him succeed.

“I will always acknowledge and appreciate the adventures, support, and growth both Nayte and this experience have brought me. At the same time, I’m deeply hurting and will need time and space to work through this heartbreak,” she concluded.

Nayte, for his part, addressed their separation in his own statement, noting how their relationship began with them yearning for soulmates and has now evolved into bestfriends.

“As we grow and learn, we also realize that sometimes somebody that you hold dear to your heart isn’t somebody that you’re meant to spend the rest of your life with,” he wrote. “Michelle and I are going to move forward separately. Hearts are heavy, emotions are high, and we are dealing with this the best way we can.”

“We genuinely fell in love and we genuinely became each other’s best friends,” he added. “Michelle and I will always hear each other on, but moving forward we will be cheering from a distance.”

He ended his statement by thanking those who have supported them and stating that their heartbreak is real, despite the fact that their relationship has been formed in the public eye. He went on to request that they be given privacy at this difficult time.

As we previously reported back in May, Michelle took to Instagram stories to set the records straight regarding the status of her relationship with Nayte after reports of split surfaced and a video of her not wearing the engagement ring went viral, denying that they had broken up.

The now-former couple got engaged during the “Bachelorette” Season 18 finale in December 2021.

Reactions to Bachelorette’s Michelle Young Confirms Split With Nayte Olukoya

Michelle Young probably broke up with Nayte bc he spells his name like that

Both @kingbabatunde94 and @michelleyoung have said they’d hold on during hard times and not give up, so I have a hard time believing they’d throw in the towel before moving in together (long distance is HARD). Whatever happens, I’ll support them both. ❤️

well since @michelleyoung and fiance Nayte called it off will she get back to Rodney the underdog?

Michelle Young should have picked Brandon! Just Sayin!
