Despite the pandemic, Ayesha still found a way to live a healthy life and stay fit. In May 2020, the actress shared a photo of herself wearing a two-piece bikini on her Instagram account. The post has garnered more than 1 million likes as of this writing.

Speaking in an interview with Yahoo Canada Lifestyle, the TV personality revealed that she lost significant weight during the COVID-19 lockdown. She also credited her partnership with Fitbit Premium, which helped her achieve her 35-pound weight loss.

“Fitbit Premium has come in handy through quarantine,” Ayesha said. “It was great while I was traveling and out of my routine—I was able to tap into the vast library workout content anytime, anywhere, so I didn’t fall off track. It’s a great resource for at-home and on-the-go workouts.”

In July 2020, the actress posted another photo of herself, discussing how she started her weight loss journey. She said Fitbit has allowed her to incorporate healthy habits into her schedule, thanks to its easy ten-minute workouts and fast, healthy recipes.

“I started my fitness journey because I wanted to be strong and healthy for myself and the people who depend on me,” Ayesha wrote in the caption. “But it was important that I did it my way, which meant I needed working out to fit in my life, NOT take me away from it.”

“It’s kind of like summer camp with Stephen and I both home, so we try and keep the kids active,” she said.

Aside from exercising, Ayesha makes sure that she cooks healthy recipes. The actress was known for her delicious recipes, but she eventually shifted her focus to nutritious meals when losing weight. She ensured that she always put the right foods on her plate.

One of the dishes she usually makes is her apricot salmon recipe, which is mixed with summer squash, zucchini, and corn. Her go-to lunch is “arugula or spinach salad with a seared protein on the side—some shrimp, tuna, or seared salmon.” Regarding her quick meal, the actress’s favorite is fish.

Ayesha also said that they’re a ‘green veggie family,” as they usually enjoy “Brussels [sprouts], asparagus and broccoli.” She likes roasting these vegetables on high heat to give everything a nice char and enhance their flavor.

“There’s nothing I love more than a one-pot/one sheet pan dinner, so most nights, I’ll season up a protein and roast it alongside the vegetables.”

Another family meal favorite is chicken parm, which the actress described as “comforting.” It is one of the first dishes she made when she and Stephen were just dating, which is why it feels nostalgic for her whenever she makes this.

“I do a lighter breading using panko instead of regular bread crumbs and whip up a super-fast and fresh tomato sauce for the topping,” Ayesha shared how she prepared the dish.

Meanwhile, healthy snacking is important for Ayesha. Her favorite snack is banana chips, and she said some even called her obsessed with it. But when she is not munching this snack, she also enjoys snacking on carrot sticks or cucumbers.

Although the actress needs to make sure she consumes healthy foods, the amount she eats is actually more important to her. She told Fitbit that she’s into portion control over any kind of diet and tries to stick to nourishing, delicious food in moderation.

“I keep track of the food I’m putting into my body through the Fitbit app on my phone, and the calories toward my daily goal are at a glance on my watch,” she added.

In addition to working out and having a healthy diet, Ayesha ensures she gets enough sleep every night. She learned from her Fitbit sleep data that she doesn’t get much sleep, so she began working on it. The actress noted that sleep impacts everything else, and it is connected to so much of our overall health.
