Michele is slated to take over as the show's new lead.

Lea Michele is now in the headlines and creating a stir on social media with the announcement that she will replace Beanie Feldstein in the Broadway production of “Funny Girl,” which was made on Monday.

Feldstein said on Sunday via an Instagram post that she had to step away from her major role since the show had taken a different path than she had anticipated. With that, the “Glee” actress Michele will start giving performances on the show on September 6, according to Page Six.

While the announcement is sparking excitement among fans, some are questioning the casting decision, like her former “Glee” co-star Sammie Ware, who took to social media to express her dismay.

Following the announcement, she wrote on Twitter, “Yes, I’m online today. Yes, I see y’all. Yes, I care. Yes, im affected. Yes, I’m human. Yes, I’m Black.”

“Yes, I was abused. Yes, my dreams were tainted. Yes, Broadway upholds whiteness. Yes, Hollywood does the same. Yes, silence is complicity. Yes, I’m loud. Yes, I’d do it again.”

This tweet undoubtedly targets both the production and Michele, given that Ware was previously a victim of her harsh treatment on the “Glee” set. In addition, the publication noted that she claimed her co-star turned her time on the Fox program into a “living hell” in June 2020 after declaring her support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

For her part, Michele then addressed the instances mentioned above on social media and extended an apology, stating, “What matters is that I clearly acted in ways which hurt other people.”

Michele has not yet responded to Ware’s tweet or comments about the announcement on various news media outlets.

Reactions to Lea Michele's Casting In "Funny Girl" On Broadway Has Sammie Ware Upset

I got word that Sammie Ware is shaking in her boots and pulling a race card again.. and she’ll probably pull another stunt. But we aren’t phased because at the end of the day.. LEA MICHELE WON. Talent won. Must suck to be irrelevant

Lea Michele @msleamichele ❤️ a @Sammie_Ware Now get over it, no one talks about you, no news mentions you, if it has nothing to do with Lea. ⭐️

I don't like Lea Michele either, but what do you want to do @Sammie_Ware ? Cancel her forever? Zero 2nd chances? No chance at redemption?? Six years in jail for uhm, micro-aggressions? #funnygirl
