The popular Netflix series “Stranger Things,” in which Noah Schnapp portrays “Will Byers,” recently debuted its fourth season, and fans have been speculating about Will’s gender ever since.
Without second thought, Schnapp made the decision to put a stop to the theories that were being made about his popular television character and revealed that Will is gay and in love with his best friend.
“It was hinted at in Season 1. It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends? Now that he’s gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it’s 100% clear he is gay and does love Mike,” the actor revealed in an interview with Variety.
He also mentioned how happy it made him feel when others approached him and expressed how much they connected with his character.
“People have come up to me — I was just in Paris and this, like, a 40-year-old man came up to me and he was like, “Wow, this Will character made me feel so good. And I related to it so much. That is exactly who I was when I was a kid.” That just made me so happy to hear,” he continued.
“They are writing this real character and this real journey and real struggle, and they’re doing it so well.”
Schnapp didn’t stop there; he further claimed to have spoken with the Duffer Brothers and inquired about their plan regarding Will’s sexual orientation. They allegedly replied that they still had many details to iron out and they are still in the process of doing so but that they were confident in their course of action.
“There’s so many different things they have to address. Obviously, we hope for a coming out scene,” he concluded. “So I’m excited to see what happens.”
