The actress recently faced negative comments about her accent on the film’s trailer.

Ana de Armas made a lot of effort and even went to great lengths in order to properly look and portray the iconic blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming Netflix film “Blonde.” She received a lot of appreciation for her transformation and how she appeared to be the renowned icon in every way.

However, compliments are sometimes accompanied by harsh criticism, as many people have pointed out her accent throughout the film’s trailer and even drawn comparisons to Lady Gaga’s accent in “House of Gucci.”

For Brad Pitt, though, it wasn’t the case. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he defended the Cuban actress and stated, “She is phenomenal in it. That’s a tough dress to fill. It was 10 years in the making. It wasn’t until we found Ana that we could get it across the finish line.”

Given that the film is being made by Pitt’s firm, “Plan B,” his support for de Armas is just as significant as what the reviewers have to say. As a matter of fact, the actor is not the only one who defended her.

The Authentic Brands Group, who manages Monroe’s estate also chose to stand up for her and didn’t believe that to be the case as well. “Any actor that steps into that role knows they have big shoes to fill,” ABG president Marc Rosen said.

“Based on the trailer alone, it looks like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn’s glamor, humanity, and vulnerability.”

The film “Blonde,” which is slated to come out in September, recounts Monroe’s life “from her volatile childhood as Norma Jeane, through her rise to stardom and romantic entanglements.”
