Just days after publicly claiming that he had been unfaithful to her throughout their marriage, Ne-Yo’s wife, Crystal Renay, has filed for divorce after being married for six years, alleging that he had a kid with another woman.
According to court documents obtained by US Weekly, Renay is “entitled to a divorce from [Ne-Yo] upon the ground that the marriage is irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.”
It was further stated that the “Because of You” singer “committed the act of adultery” and “recently fathered a minor child with his paramour.” Additionally, she asked for shared legal and primary physical custody of their three kids, Shaffer, Roman, and Isabella.
Moreover, she is also asking for both temporary and permanent alimony, as well as “sufficient child support.” The date mentioned for their separation is July 22, 2022.
The divorce filing comes after Renay took to Instagram to express her long-repressed emotions after learning that the artist had been unfaithful to her for eight years.
“8 years of lies and deception. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and husband with numerous of women who sell their bodies to him unprotected,” her statement began. “Every last one of them!”
Ne-Yo, on the other hand, made his own response on Twitter, writing, “For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors.”
“Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.”
Following their 2015 encounter, the now-former couple initially began dating. Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr., Roman Alexander-Raj Smith, and Isabella Rose Smith are the couple’s three children.
