The incident happened during a film convention.
Gary Busey went to New Jersey for business objectives, but upon his return, he found himself the target of multiple sex offense allegations stemming from events that occurred earlier this month at a film convention.
Two women came forward on Saturday, alleging that the actor had assaulted them, and the Cherry Hill Police Department confirmed in a statement obtained by Yahoo News that they were called to a DoubleTree Hotel in New Jersey for a sex assault report for Busey.
The aforementioned incident took place during a fan gathering called Monster Mania. He was accused of making unwanted physical contact and grabbing two different women, one at her butt and the other on her breast.
The authorities subsequently charged him of engaging in multiple counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of harassment. Busey, however, denied the accusations in a statement to TMZ, claiming that they were entirely false and had no basis in reality.
Furthermore, Busey claims to have witnesses, including a photographer and his partner, who can attest to the events he claims to have described. He added that the duration of his entire exchange with the women was less than 10 seconds.
Nikitas Moustakas, an attorney for the convention, also provided The New York Times with a statement regarding the incident which reads, “Immediately upon receiving a complaint from the attendees, the celebrity guest was removed from the convention and instructed not to return.”
“Monster-Mania also encouraged the attendees to contact the police to file a report. The safety and well-being of all our attendees is of the utmost importance to Monster-Mania, and the company will not tolerate any behavior that could compromise those values.”
