Italian man's lover shared the photo she took with him just before he died, captioning it, “Our cursed last photo together.”

According to reports, an Italian guy smiled for a picture with his lover minutes before he went up to 650 feet to his death while attempting to catch a lost cellphone.

Andrea Mazzetto, 30, took the photo on Saturday while climbing Altar Knotto, a rock in his hometown of Rotzo –  named due to its resemblance to an altar. Sara Bragante, his live-in girlfriend, was also in the picture.

One of them eventually lost a phone, and Mazzetto fell around 650 feet to his death while attempting to retrieve it, according to police, who spoke to Corriere del Veneto.

He was declared dead at the spot once helicopter rescue crews arrived.

Before the incident, Mazzetto had regularly posted updates on his trip with Bragante on his Instagram. Bragante later uploaded a selfie of the two of them that had been taken just before her loved one passed away.

Along with the picture they took while climbing Altar Knotto, she captioned it, “Our cursed last photo together.”

She also wrote with an emoji of a teddy bear, “You will always be with me, my little bear.”

On Instagram, Mazzetto frequently shared pictures of himself without a shirt on. He also professed his love for the woman who would later witness him fall to his death.

The police eventually revealed to the local media that Mazzetto’s own phone had fallen, contrary to initial allegations that he was attempting to retrieve his girlfriend’s phone.

According to the local media, the building contractor will be buried on Wednesday.
