Her tracks have recently been the subject of lawsuits.

After being sued for her song “Shake it Off” a few weeks ago, Taylor Swift is now being sued once again, but this time it’s for the idea of her 2019 “Lover” book.

Taylor Swift

An author has filed a lawsuit against Swift for copyright infringement, claiming that the singer used parts of her self-published book filled with “poems, anecdotes and photos” in the companion booklet for her 2019 “Lover” album.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, who broke the story, the author Teresa La Dart claims that there are many similarities between her work and what Swift released aside from the name itself.

She claimed that the main idea of both works—that it was a “recollection of past years memorialized in a combination of written and pictorial components”—was identical. In addition, the cover and introductory photos, as well as the color schemes, are the same as those from her publication from ten years prior.

William S. Parks, La Dart’s legal counsel, issued the following statement regarding the complaint, which Billboard was able to obtain: “The defendants to this day have neither sought, nor obtained, a license from TLD of her creative design element rights, nor have they given any credit to TLD … let alone provided any monetary payments.”

Damages of more than $1 million were sought in the complaint. Swift’s representative has yet to reply to the case or any requests for comments from various news media outlets.

This isn’t the first time the singer-songwriter has faced lawsuit for her tracks. Recently, songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler filed a lawsuit against her and her song “Shake it Off.”

They alleged that she plagiarized lyrics from their 2001 song “Playas Gon’ Play,” which was performed by the girl group 3LW, in their 2017 lawsuit, which was initially dismissed but was reopened on appeal.

Swift then responded that she had never heard of the group 3LW, the song, or either of those things, adding that “none of the CDs I listened to as a child, or after that, were by 3LW.”

At this point, I won’t be surprised if people sued Taylor Swift for breathing, walking, talking, and doing anything mundane.
