The song, which is actually a remake of Elton’s famous hit “Tiny Dancer” and “The One,” is the pop star’s first to be released following the lifting of her 13-year conservatorship. The song immediately debuted at No. 1 on iTunes in the US and 40 countries.

Spears also shared a video of herself in the bathtub on Twitter along with the joyful news that their song had reached the top of the charts, saying, “Hello Sir Elton John we are like No. 1 in 40 countries.”

“Holy s—! I’m in the tub right now and I’m about to go have the best day ever and I hope you’re well.” John then responded to her video, writing, “Hey Britney!! Thank you for this message. You’ve made my day!! Hope everyone has the best day dancing to our song! #HoldMeCloser.”

The Princess of Pop shared her experience and her feelings about her first song in six years in a series of tweets before the song was released. She said that while the situation is a little overwhelming, it is also important to her.

“Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years 🎶 !!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of the most classic men of our time … @eltonofficial 🚀!!!! I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me !!! I’m meditating more 🧘🏼‍♀️ and learning my space is valuable and precious !!!”

“I’m learning everyday is a clean slate to try and be a better person and do what makes me happy … yes I choose happiness today,” she added. “I tell myself every day to let go of the hurt bitterness and try to forgive myself and others to what may have been hurtful.”

“I want to be fearless like when I was younger and not be so scared and fearful. I pray there actually is truth to the Holy Spirit and I hope that spirit is with my children as well !!! Yes … I choose happiness and joy today ☀️ !!!”

As we previously reported, Spears’ conservatorship has been ended after nearly 14 years without additional mental assessments to be granted. She felt “enslaved” by her father, Jamie Spears, during those days she went through her conservatory and performed nonstop for a considerable amount of time.

She further had have a long-running residency in Vegas, but she said in court that she was coerced into performing and didn’t want to take part in her 2018 European tour.

Due to her desire to “officially retire,” it was rumored that she would not return to the stage after her conservatorship is through. Spears nevertheless appeared to be open to all possibilities, as evidenced by her latest endeavor with Elton.
