Sandy Lam
Sandy Lam is a singer, actress, and album producer from Hong Kong. She rose to prominence as a Cantopop diva in the 1980s before broadening her fan base markedly in Asia, releasing more than 30 stylistically diverse albums in Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and Japanese. Sandy, one of the most famous figures in Chinese-language music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, is known not only for her commercial success but also for her ability to transform and willingness to step the frameworks of the genre and industries in which she operates. Her albums, Gaia in 2012 and 0 in 2018, earned her a Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Female Singer. Sandy has worked with Warner Music, Rock Records, Virgin Records, Capitol Records, EMI Music, and now Universal Music, in addition to CBS Sony Records in the 1980s.
Sandy Lam, the eldest of three children, was born in Hong Kong on April 26, 1966, and spent her childhood in North Point. Playing and making music had always been essential to the Lam family’s life. Her father moved to Hong Kong. Sandy was a professional Erhu musician with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and her mother performed Yue opera in local venues. She became a full-time D.J. in 1984 after Tony Lee of CBS/Sony Records noticed her talent during an outdoor Crying in the Rain performance. In 1985, she signed with CBS/Sony and released her debut album in 1986. Meanwhile, as a nurse, Sandy appeared in the films Merry Christmas and The Intellectual Tri and in an RTHK television series.
Sandy’s musical career did not start off well. The Japanese idol craze influenced her first Cantonese language album and corresponding imagery. Despite the popularity of this style, Sandy was not well received by the general public. Not until her debut album Grey did locals begin to take the former D.J. seriously as a singer. Sandy won her first awards at the 1987 Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Awards Presentation for the title song, and a cover version of Berlin’s Take My Breath Away. On the jazz-influenced Ready, she demonstrated her ability to cross genres even further.
Being in the field of music has been a great blessing to Sandy Lam, knowing that it not only gives Sandy a chance to have new friends and fans whom she considers her family. “I feel really fortunate that music is my work, and I haven’t lost my passion for it,” Sandy says. “I feel very blessed that I have fans who have supported me throughout my career.”
Nowadays, singers don’t just focus on how beautiful their voice is. They also take care of their Beauty. While Sandy’s voice is enchanting, she admits that Beauty is essential in her life. “In this day and age, aesthetics most definitely play a significant role in a person’s confidence,” she explained. “With added confidence, your probability of success rises,” Sandy added.
Pansy Ho
Pansy Catalina Ho Chiu-king is the daughter of Macau-based business tycoon Stanley Ho and the managing director of several companies he established, including Shun Tak Holdings. Pansy owns significant stakes in two of Macau’s six casino licensees. She was named one of Hong Kong’s 50 richest people in 2021 and the 2nd richest woman in Hong Kong.
Pansy Ho was conceived on August 26, 1962, as the eldest of five children to Stanley Ho and Lucina Laam King Ying. Daisy, her second sister, is the Chairman of SJM Holdings, Josie, her third sister, is a singer, and Lawrence, her brother, is also a businessman. She attended an all-girls high school in Palo Alto, California, Castilleja School, and then Santa Clara University, where Pansy earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business. Pansy had also gone to St. Paul’s Convent School in Causeway Bay for her Junior and Senior High School years. In May 2007, Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, bestowed an honorary doctorate upon her.
In 1981, Ho started a short career in the Hong Kong entertainment industry, co-starring in the TVB series Breakthrough with actor Danny Chan, who had only been in the industry for two years. She later founded her own public relations firm at the age of 26. In the early 1990s, she supported her sister Josie Ho’s efforts to launch her singing career, despite their father’s opposition. He owns 29 percent of the MGM Grand Macau, a relationship that has caused problems for business partner MGM Mirage. In March 2007, Nevada’s Gaming Control Board and Gaming Commission held extensive hearings on MGM’s partnership with Ho, concluding that she was a suitable business partner.
When talking about taking risks for their career, Pansy is the kind of woman who wants to get and try different things not only for her own needs and for her business and career. “We all have our career aspirations,” Pansy says. “In my case, I want to continue pursuing different areas. I believe it never ends, but it’s important to keep the spirit and to always want to climb newer heights,” Pansy added.
Being successful in Pansy’s career has inspired her fans and family. Pansy shared that “If there is such a thing as a women’s greatest asset, I think it’s a combination of intuition, patience, and the ability to strike a balance. Women are also very ambitious human beings, but in most cases, they find it easier to compromise.” Pansy explained.
“Remember one guiding principle, and you’ll never go wrong,” Ho says, “and you always need to respect other people. Everything we do, whether it’s in business or in society, is about how we as a whole can win. It’s not just you against the rest of the world.” Pansy added,
Kathy Chow
Kathy Chow Hoi-mei is a Hong Kong actress and singer best known for her leading roles in Hong Kong TVB series such as The Breaking Point and Time Before Time from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. Her popularity in Asia peaked after she played Zhou Zhiruo in the 1994 Taiwanese adaptation of The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. She is an ethnic Manchu descended from the Bordered White Banner’s Gwalgiya clan.
She previously competed in the Miss Hong Kong pageant. She actively modeled and starred in Hong Kong TVB series in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She began working for ATV in 1998. During this time, she occasionally appeared in Hong Kong films and award shows. Kathy was only with ATV until 2001 when she moved to Beijing in search of new opportunities.
After a brief hiatus, Chow returned to TVB in March 2008 and signed on to TVB’s action E.U., the sequel to The Academy and On the First Beat. She has appeared in a few TVB series recently, but her primary focus remains on mainland Chinese productions.
A model’s life can be unpredictable, with each assignment bringing new obstacles and enjoyments. Though her looks are important to her career, Kathy Chow is more than that. Many young girls dream of becoming fashion models when they reach adulthood. However, models’ lives are frequently far less stylish than they would seem. “With beauty comes confidence,” Kathy says, “and, with that, the power that allows you to achieve things that might have seemed beyond reach.”
Modeling is not all about posing in front of the camera and wearing beautiful clothes. It is also about being confident and working hard. “No matter what you do, you have to be yourself and bring part of yourself to the job,” Kathy stated. “As a model, you need to transform into different looks, different eras, different people, but you can’t lose yourself within those characters. It’s no different from acting, in some ways. Being modeling is not as easy as it looks. If I hadn’t had driven to begin with, if I didn’t have to suffer to achieve, then I wouldn’t be able to taste the sweetness of success today.” Kathy also explained.
Jennifer Tse
Jennifer Tse Ting-Ting is a model and actress from Hong Kong. Tse and actor Andy On were together from 2009 to 2013. From 2014 to 2015, she started dating T.V. producer Sean Lee-Davies. Tse had a baby daughter who was 100 days old on June 3, 2019, but it is unknown who the father was. On her first birthday, February 21, 2020, her daughter was given the name Sara.
She was born in Hong Kong on September 7, 1982, to Patrick Tse and Deborah Lee. Nicholas Tse is her older brother. During Jennifer’s career, she is best known for her roles in Bruce Lee, My Brother in 2010, where she played Pearl Tso, Bruce Lee’s love interest as portrayed by Aarif Lee, and Naked Soldier in 2012, where she played a police officer’s daughter. The latter was kidnapped and trained as an assassin. In the 2014 film Siddharta, she played Yaodhar, the wife of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, opposite Ray Lui, who played Buddha. Jennifer Tse graduated from the University of British Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Jennifer is not just an actress and a model; she is a woman with many more talents to show. “I don’t have any illusions about my industry,” Jennifer says. “It doesn’t matter whether you are in front of the camera, advocating for humanitarian causes, or running your own business. We all make our small contribution in the best way we know.” Jennifer explained.
Being in the industry of pure Beauty and confidence, Jennifer doesn’t have a pretty face. She also builds her own faith. “There is a definite relationship between beauty and a person’s confidence,” Jennifer shared. “But beauty and physical aesthetics are not synonymous. In today’s society, we often confuse the two ideas. Sophia Loren said it best: ‘Beauty is how you feel inside and reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.” She added.
We all know that being on a film or on a runway is very different when you’re at home sitting in comfy clothes and having a bare face. Jennifer shared that “The entertainment industry blurs the distinction between professional and personal life.” “There is overlap because there is no off button. It’s easy to forget yourself, forget who you really are. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful partner, a loving family, and some very supportive friends who are all too willing to remind me that I was once an awkward, gangly girl with a mouth full of dental braces. Yes, I’m talking full dental head and neck gear.” Jennifer added
Nansun Shi
Nansun Shi is a Hong Kong film producer, presenter, and former Media Asia Group senior advisor. Nansun has worked in the Hong Kong film industry for many decades and has made significant contributions to the Hong Kong film scene since the late 1970s. She is the ex-wife of renowned director Tsui Hark. She was born in Hong Kong and received her primary and secondary education at Maryknoll Convent School. In the mid-1970s, she earned a degree in statistics and computing from the Polytechnic of North London.
Nansun Shi began working for television studios in 1978, first in the publicity and then in the programming departments. Her career as a producer began in 1981 when Cinema City Studios was founded by Karl Maka, Raymond Wong, and Dean Shek. She was also a co-founder of Tsui Hark’s production company, Film Workshop Co. Ltd., the studio behind films like A Better Tomorrow and Once Upon a Time in China. She was announced as a jury member for the main competition at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival in April 2011. Nansun received the Best Independent Producer Award at the 67th Locarno Film Festival in August 2014.
They say that somehow couples aren’t meant to work together. They say it can build up conflict, but Nansun explained, “We are collaborators, not competitors.” “I have noticed that women tend to want to be friends with whoever they do business with and establish long-term relationships,” Nansun added.
Beauty features can add up when starting a business. Being on the honest side, it’s the reality. “I have always thought that it certainly does not hurt to have external beauty,” Nansun says, “but some gorgeous women in business have told me that they are often not taken seriously enough, so it could work as a double-edged sword. In the long run, external Beauty does not count as much as the Beauty in one’s ability, attitude, how one treats others and lives.” She added.

“Women can multitask better,” Bonnie added, “and negotiate tricky situations with charm and dexterity.” “Everything comes in a package, and if you’ve got it all – beauty, brains, charm, confidence, femininity, and intelligence – wow, the path is yours to take.” Bonnie shared.
