Jay Hernandez's Early Life

Jay Hernandez, the son of Isis, a secretary and accountant, and Javier Hernandez Sr., a mechanic, Jay was born on February 20, 1978, in Montebello, California. He has a younger sister named Amelia and two older brothers named Michael and Gabriel. When he was fourteen and Daniella Deutscher was seventeen, they first met and fell in love. (3)

Before transferring to Schurr High School in Montebello for his senior year, he attended Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, California. Since then, he has appeared in numerous high-profile Hollywood productions, including leading roles in World Trade Center, Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power, and the 2005 horror movie Hostel. Hernandez made an appearance in the August 2010 action/crime movie Takers. Hernandez played Carlito Brigante in the 2005 crime prequel Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power, a role originally played by Al Pacino in the 1993 film Carlito’s Way. In the 2005 film Hostel and its 2007 sequel, Hostel: Part II, Hernandez played Paxton.

He starred in the 2015 film Max as a sergeant in the American military entrusted with the titular rescue dog, who was traumatized by the loss of his previous handler. He appeared in the comedies Bad Moms and Suicide Squad in 2016 as Jessie Harkness and El Diablo, a metahuman ex-gangster. Hernandez was chosen to play Thomas Magnum in the CBS drama series Magnum P.I. on February 20, 2018. On September 24, 2018, the series began airing.
