After graduating from North Pacific Dental College and completing his coursework at the University of Oregon, the actor chose to follow in the footsteps of his father and seek a career in dentistry. Then, he eventually ran an oral surgery practice in Eugene, Oregon, from 1929 to 1937. Soon, Edgar relocated his practice to Altadena, California.
