6IX9INE's Early Life
Daniel Hernandez, better known by his stage as 6IX9INE, was born in Brooklyn on May 8, 1996. He is the child of Daniel Hernandez Sr., a resident of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and Natividad Perez-Hernandez, a factory worker and housekeeper from Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico.
When he was young, his mother became his sole provider after his stepfather passed away, and he tried to find a solution to support his family.
His parents reared him alongside his older brother until he was 13 years old when his father was fatally murdered just a few steps from the family home. Due to his emotional distress following the passing of his father, Daniel began to transgress and was ultimately expelled from school in the eighth grade.
He began taking odd jobs like busboy to support his mother financially rather than continuing his education. While working at a neighborhood Brooklyn bodega, Daniel also traded drugs to support his income, primarily selling marijuana and heroin on the street.
He was ultimately arrested for his illegal operations and given a prison sentence at Rikers Island. He started hanging out with the Nine Trey Gangsters, an inmate offshoot of the Bloods street gang. (2)
6IX9INE's Girlfriend and Family Life
As of 2023, Tekashi, or 6ix9ine, is reportedly dating the famous Instagram celebrity, “OhSoYouJade,” also known as Jade. Daniel has not married any woman. However, he is also known to be a father to his two daughters.
Daniel has also been involved with various side chicks. And currently, he has been linked to a model and Instagram star named Jade. Although it is unknown if the two are currently dating, they are reportedly still together. (3)
6IX9INE's Controversies
There are some alarming criminal charges against Daniel. He submitted a plea of guilty to the felony charge of “Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance” in 2017, which in his case, already has three felony charges against him.
Early in 2015, he posted three films to his social media profile in which he and another man were seen interacting with a young girl, perhaps between the ages of 13 and 14. In a later interview with “DJ Akademics,” he discussed the incident and said that he was 17 at the time (a minor) and that he had uploaded the videos to his Instagram account, which had since been banned.
Daniel also acknowledged that the account had been banned because it had been used to distribute the videos. His statement that he was 17 (at the time of the occurrence) turns out to be false. He was required to finish his GED after entering a guilty plea. He ran the prospect of getting a jail sentence if he didn’t earn his GED. (4)
6IX9INE's Career
6IX9INE collaborated with Bodega Bamz after he decided to pursue a profession in the music industry. And when he posted some of his original rap tracks on YouTube and Soundcloud, that’s where he began his career to stardom, as the videos received a considerable amount of views. This prompted him to agree to terms with several record labels.
Daniel then gained notoriety for his unique rainbow-themed appearance, tattoos, violent rapping style, public conflicts with other celebrities, legal troubles, and aggressive public attitude.
With the release of his platinum-certified debut single “Gummo” in late 2017, Hernandez gained widespread recognition. “Day69,” Hernandez’s debut mixtape, debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 album list when it was published in the first few months of 2018.
Later, with the help of Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz, he scored his first top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song “Fefe,” which reached number three on the chart. After being delayed for a week due to his arrest, his debut studio album, “Dummy Boy,” was finally released on November 27, 2018, and it landed at two on the Billboard 200 list.
