He is undoubtedly a trailblazer, and his distinctive style will undoubtedly be mirrored in the high-end brand’s men’s collection.

Pharrell Williams has been appointed as the new men’s creative director of the fashion house Louis Vuitton following the unexpected death of Virgil Abloh. With his own clothing lines and prior partnerships with well-known labels, Pharrell is no stranger to the fashion world.

Pietro Beccari, the chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, made this announcement on Tuesday in a message that was also shared on the brand’s Instagram page. It was also disclosed that Pharrell’s first collection for LV would make its debut in Paris at Men’s Fashion Week in June of next year.

“Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years,” the statement continued. “The way in which he breaks boundaries across the various worlds he explores, aligns with Louis Vuitton’s status as a Cultural Maison, reinforcing its values of innovation, pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship.”

For his part, Beccari wrote, “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”

Many people are happy about his appointment because they believe it would invigorate the world of luxury fashion with the much-needed diversity it so desperately needs.

Pharrell is a gifted designer with a distinct aesthetic who will breathe new life into the high-end company. This is a historic occasion for Pharrell as well as the whole fashion and music industries.

As we previously reported, Virgil Abloh, the first black creative director of the Louis Vuitton menswear brand and the founder of Off-White, passed away on November 2021 after a private battle with cancer.

Abloh’s death was confirmed via a post on his verified Instagram profile, which explained that he had been battling cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare and deadly form of cancer, for more than two years.

The late designer was also Kanye West’s long-term creative director and was one of the few black designers at the head of a French historical house. At that time, LVMH, Louis Vuitton, and Off-White all released a joint statement to pay their respects to the designer.

Williams has already worked with companies like Adidas, Uniqlo, and G-Star Raw; therefore, he is not new to the fashion industry. “Billionaire Boys Club,” his own clothing line, is another venture of his. The fact that Louis Vuitton appointed him is evidence of the streetwear industry’s rising influence on the high-end fashion industry.

It will be intriguing to witness how Pharrell’s own flair will impact the Louis Vuitton brand. His role as creative director will include several highly anticipated elements, including the fashion shows he will direct. Because of his reputation as a music lover, it is probable that Pharrell will bring the same enthusiasm to the fashion presentations he creates for Louis Vuitton.

Reactions to Pharrell Williams Appointed As Louis Vuitton Men's Creative Director After Late Virgil Abloh

I want to write about this, but I’m off to bed, maybe tomorrow, BUT @Pharrell playing team for @doodles AND @LouisVuitton makes all the sense in the world to me (bullish or not) and it’s a great pick for street and fashion culture. first picture: LV puffer from @doitbigchicago

Pharrell Williams being the CD of LV mens is the biggest curveball ever

I have mixed feelings about Pharrell Williams being the Louis Vuitton menswear creative director. BUT I can’t judge before I see what he comes up with in his first collection
