Raquel Welch, a Hollywood legend who appeared in some of the most well-liked movies and T.V. series of the 1960s and 1970s, passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 82. She was a gifted actress whose contributions, both on and off the screen, will live forever in memory.

Raquel’s family members report that the actress passed away following a brief illness. Her manager Steve Sauer also made a statement on Raquel’s demise to PEOPLE.

“Her career spanned over 50 years, starring in over 30 films and 50 television series and appearances. The Golden Globe winner, in more recent years, was involved in a very successful line of wigs,” the statement reads. “Raquel leaves behind her two children, son Damon Welch and her daughter Tahnee Welch.”

Raquel initially gained national attention for her role in the 1966 movie “Fantastic Voyage,” following which led to her signing a deal with 20th Century Fox. The British production company Hammer Film Productions was given a contract after that, and she worked there to produce “One Million Years B.C.”

In the said film, the actress only had minimal lines, but it was her outfit there, which was a deerskin bikini, that later increased her status and even became a sex symbol in the Hollywood industry. Her career flourished even more, eventually leading to her starring in multiple films and tv shows.

Some of her other film credits include “Shoot Loud, Louder… I Don’t Understand,” “The Three Musketeers,” for which she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and “Chairman of the Board,” for which she was nominated Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actress.

Her last entertainment industry venture was the television series “Date My Dad” in 2017. She is survived by her daughter Latanne “Tahnee” Welch, who is also an actress, and her son Damon Welch.
