The news of these illnesses has been tough for his fans to accept, given that he has been a very active and well-known person in recent years.

As we age, different changes occur in both our bodies and minds. Some people may have just minor modifications, but others may find more severe challenges. Unfortunately, dementia and aphasia diagnoses for actor Bruce Willis indicate that his cognitive abilities are declining.

Willis, famous for his appearances in “Die Hard” and “Armageddon,” was given an aphasia diagnosis in the spring of 2022, and it is reported that it may worsen. Along with that, he has also recently received a dementia diagnosis.

In fact, a frontotemporal dementia diagnosis has just been confirmed by the actor’s family in a statement to AFTD, writing, “Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD).”

“Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces,” the statement continued. “While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”

“Bruce has always found joy in life – and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us.”

“We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time. Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible,” the statement concluded.

Willis’ ability to talk is impacted by aphasia, while his thinking and memory are affected by dementia. Although there is no known treatment for dementia or aphasia, there are medications that can help control the symptoms.

If you recall, after the singer was diagnosed with aphasia last year, multiple reports have been released that he decided to put his career on hold, news that was also confirmed by his daughter, Rumer Willis, at that time.

And with that, it appeared as though Willis’ fans would never get the chance to see him return to the big screen since it is probable that he would opt to call it quits on his acting career.

With both diagnoses, it will be tough for him to star in any films or tv series since he will most likely have difficulty remembering his lines on set. In addition, dementia is a progressive disease, which means that the patient’s capacity for speech and thought will eventually deteriorate as it progresses.

While coping with chronic diseases might be difficult, it’s important to remember that Bruce Willis is still the same person he was before being diagnosed and that he still lives life to the fullest.

It sucks to hear the news of Bruce Willis having dementia. He's done so many of my favorite movies that were a part of me growing up. Fifth Element is still a banger to this day.

This news made me sad 💔 but at the same time, I'm so glad he's surrounded by so much love and such a support system. Bruce Willis has always been a fave, that hasn't changed. Sending love, light and strength to him and his family. Dementia is profoundly a thief.

Poor Bruce Willis One of my all time fav actors and in some amazing movies. Dementia is a horrible thing to go through for not only him but his loved ones too. Thoughts with them all
