While performing in New Zealand, Harry Styles addressed the deleted photo he uploaded on Sunday and stressed that he didn’t want his fans to see his recent photo wearing a “One Direction” t-shirt.
Harry Styles, a singer, and songwriter, “accidentally” posted a selfie in the gym to his Instagram story last Sunday night. The retro tee featured a square design with photos of his former bandmates Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik, with the initials of the band’s name, “1D,” printed in the bottom right corner. Styles wore a top knot of his signature brown hair, a pair of navy blue workout shorts, and bright yellow sneakers in the mirror selfie.
Many speculated that Styles planned to share the selfie with his close pals because he erased it from his Instagram story shortly after posting it. While he may have deleted the selfie from his profile, his devoted followers still have copies, thanks to screenshots.
Fans of the boy band “One Direction” re-posted the photo on Twitter to discuss their joy over a t-shirt featuring the band’s lead singer. Some may not be surprised by Harry Styles’s recent selfie wearing a “One Direction” t-shirt, given that he praised his former bandmates while collecting his award of Artist of the Year at the 2023 BRIT Awards last month.
His fans were thrilled to see him with the shirt, but he erased the photo and explained why he did so onstage in Auckland, New Zealand, on Tuesday night as part of his “Love On Tour.” A clip of him from the show had gone viral on social media when he admitted that, like everyone, he also has secrets.
He was in London this week when a fan approached him about the photo in a video released online. He answered with, “Well, I’ve heard of that. Indeed, I was just made aware of it,” while laughing.
