The deal Seacrest signed in July 2009 to continue hosting American Idol was for $45 million, making him the highest-paid reality television host. He agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract in April 2012 to continue serving as American Idol’s host. It was reported in May 2014 that Seacrest had agreed to a one-year contract with a one-year extension option.

As a youngster attending Dunwoody High School, he became an intern at the radio station WSTR-FM (Star 64). Seacrest had his first opportunity to get on the air when the DJ canceled due to illness. The station granted him the weekend overnight shift because he performed effectively.
