Moving on means breaking the ties that bind.

On Thursday, Reese Witherspoon was spotted for the first time since her divorce from Jim Toth became public, and she was not wearing her wedding ring anymore. The actress was captured on camera while strolling through the streets of Nashville, Tennessee, as what appeared to be a serious conversation was taking place between her and her phone.

Witherspoon accessorized her look with brown sandals, a brown belt, white pants with a brown belt, and a light blue and white striped button-down top. The stunning woman topped off her outfit with a straw hat, which she put over her long hair. She wore matching sunglasses, a belt, and sandals, and carried a crossbody bag. She accessorized with a gold watch and little hoop earrings.

This Thursday’s appearance by Witherspoon comes one week after she and the talent agency announced their separation after nearly 12 years of marriage. “We have some personal news to share … It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the estranged couple wrote in a joint statement via Witherspoon’s Instagram on March 24.

“We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.” “Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter,” they continued. “These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.”

The “Sweet Home Alabama” star is “trying to make sure” that the divorce would not “bring out the worst in them,” according to an insider. “They’re two adults who’ve been together for over a decade who decided to move on,” the source noted. “At the end of the day, it was a mutual decision.”

Witherspoon was previously married to her “Cruel Intentions” co-star Phillippe, 48. She then went on to Jake Gyllenhaal, and in 2010, she found love with Toth. They tied the knot in March of 2011, which was a full year before Tennessee was born. A source informed PEOPLE after the shocking announcement that the two are still “the best of friends” despite their decision to pursue separate careers.

“They really are the best of friends, and this is such an amicable decision,” the source told the outlet. “They are so committed to co-parenting together. They are invested in their whole family and making this as smooth as possible for everyone.”

“No one is blaming the other. Not yet anyway,” a source exclusively told US Magazine earlier this week. “Reese and Jim say they’re parting as friends and will continue to co-parent.”
