Another dream came true with blue hair and mermaid tails!
It was a surprise that Dua Lipa was announced as the newest Barbie girl, with a promotional image for the upcoming Greta Gerwig “Barbie” film depicting the singer as a mermaid. “This Barbie is a mermaid!! #BarbieTheMovie,” the singer captioned an Instagram post featuring the film’s poster, adding the emoticons for a heart, a mermaid, and a wave.
In the movie poster, Dua wears a long, flowing blue wig, a metallic blue shell top, and what appears to be a blue-and-white mermaid tail. In the photo, the Grammy winner wears enormous pearl earrings, a necklace strung with blue beads, very 1980s blue eye makeup and a deep tan.
The movie’s official social media accounts also shared posters for Margot Robbie, 32, as the main Barbie and Ryan Gosling as the original Ken, as well as signs for co-stars such as Issa Rae, Nicola Coughlan, Hari Nef, Kate McKinnon, Emma Mackey, and others as various Barbies and Kens, including Simu Liu.
In July, Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” film premieres, and the official Barbie account introduces us to a new ensemble of dolls, including Lipa, a mermaid Barbie with blue hair. The musician joins Margot, Rae, and numerous others in the doll universe.
