Making my 1st film, Roger & Me, I was broke so I wrote to some famous people to ask for help. Only one responded: Ed Asner. “I don’t know you, kid, but here’s 500 bucks” said the note attached to the check. “Sounds like it’ll be a great film. I was an autoworker once.” R.I.P. I read an excerpt from an interview with Ed Asner. He was asked if it bothered him that after such a long career he was most remembered for a cartoon. His answer was beautiful & eloquent (duh) but I was so confused. The Boondocks wasn’t THAT popular. I just now remembered Up!

#EdAsner didn't just talk the talk, he walked the walk, often times when it wasn't the acceptable thing to do. He'll be missed for many reasons well beyond his indelible acting footprint.

Sad to hear of Ed Asner's death. Loved him in Lou Grant, and hadn't realised he was Santa in #Elf, or the voice of Carl in #Up.

"He's Up There with Ellie Now" Today, we lost actor Ed Asner at the age of 91. As an animation fanatic, I'll always remember him as Carl Fredricksen from Pixar's 2009 film, Up. May he rest peacefully, knowing that he's reunited with Ellie. #RIPEdAsner
