For over forty years, country star Wynonna Judd has amazed audiences worldwide with her powerful voice and stage presence. Since starting her career with her mom, Naomi Judd, in the early ’80s, the “She Is His Only Need” singer has also experienced a noticeable weight loss transformation.

Wynonna lost over 55 pounds by changing her diet and lifestyle. She decided to start her weight loss journey after a health scare in the summer of 2010.

In a TV interview at the time, Wynonna shared she had some surgery to repair her stomach wall and experienced a significant blood clot that went through her heart.  The doctor said she should have died.

Wynonna Judd Involved In An Accident That Changed Her Life

Shortly after dealing with blood clots, Wynonna faced another terrifying ordeal. She was involved in a car crash in Salt Lake City, recalling a guy who fell asleep and hit her head-on at 55 mph.

Despite the severity of the accident, she walked away unharmed. The other driver had to be airlifted for medical attention, but Wynonna credited her survival to the rental company upgrading her to an SUV because they loved her music.

This fortunate upgrade likely saved her life, reinforcing how fragile life can be. Both the car crash and her earlier health scare made Wynonna more determined to commit to a healthier lifestyle. These events served as a wake-up call, pushing her to prioritize her well-being and make lasting changes to her diet and exercise routine.

“My weight was a symptom and not the problem,” Wynonna revealed to People in October 2010. “I used food to soothe and reward, and I don’t do that anymore.”

Wynonna made significant changes to her lifestyle, starting with the food she bought. She began stocking her pantry with healthier options, choosing nutritious foods over her previous choices.

In addition to changing her diet, Wynonna also revamped her exercise routine. She started taking regular walks around her home in Tennessee, making physical activity a consistent part of her daily life. These walks helped her stay fit and provided a peaceful time for reflection and relaxation in the beautiful Tennessee landscape.

“I can walk up the hill behind my house without puking,” she said.

On February 11, 2023, Wynonna encountered a frightening health emergency during a concert at the WSU Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. She had to stop the show, fearing she was on the verge of fainting.

The incident shocked the audience and underscored the seriousness of her condition. Wynonna, always a consummate professional, had to prioritize her health at that moment, showing how important it was to listen to her body and take immediate action when something felt wrong.

This episode highlighted her ongoing health challenges despite her efforts to maintain a healthier lifestyle.

“I am really dizzy,” Wynonna informed the audience of her condition before calling for a crew member to assist her.  “I’m really dehydrated, and I’m having a hard time, so wait a second.”

A crew member quickly brought a stool onto the stage for Wynonna to sit on. After a brief pause, she began to perform the song “Grandpa.” Despite feeling dizzy, she continued singing, and the audience chimed in, helping her with the chorus.

“I just have to take it easy right now, and that’s OK,” she said on stage. “I’m a perfectionist, and I can’t do it unless it’s right.”

Little Big Town then joined her to perform a rendition of “Why Not Me.” After the song, the band helped her off the stage. A few days later, Wynonna reassured her fans on Instagram that “all is well” with her health after the concert.
