Ariana Madix's Boyfriend and Family Life

Ariana Madix has been in a relationship with Vanderpump Rules co-star Tom Sandoval since 2014. They met on the show when Madix got introduced as one of Lisa Vanderpump’s SURvers at SUR and Villa Blanca. Past seasons of “Pump Rules” showed the couple clashing because of their strong personalities and competitiveness. Ariana credits their long-term relationship to maturity and teamwork.

In 2019, Sandoval and Madix bought a Valley Village farmhouse-style mansion. The 4,500 square feet house boasts five bedrooms and five and a half baths. The couple lived together in a West Hollywood apartment before moving into the Lucinda Pace interior-designed mansion (5). Besides being Vanderpump Rules co-stars, Tom and Ariana are co-authors of the cocktail book “Fancy AF Cocktails: Drink Recipes From a Couple of Professional Drinkers”. They plan to write more books together.

Before dating Tom, Ariana was in a relationship with an unnamed actor who she described as mentally and emotionally abusive. She explained that their relationship contributed to her low self-esteem and eating disorder, which she suffered from while they were together and up to the second season of Vanderpump Rules.

Ariana is very private about her personal life, but in 2018, she revealed that she was diagnosed with Melanoma on the spot near her shoulder. Madix recounted that the illness was left undiagnosed and untreated for years because she didn’t have health insurance. Ariana also revealed that she was lucky that her status was only Stage 1 since Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. She is now an ambassador for The Skin Cancer Foundation.

In November 2021, Ariana Madix disclosed that she froze some of her eggs (6) with fellow Pump Rules co-star Scheana Shay. The bonafide cat lover insists that although she went through the procedure, she is not yet planning to start a family with her boyfriend, Tom Sandoval.

Ariana Madix's Career

After graduating from Flagler College in 2007, Ariana Madix left Florida to pursue an acting career. She moved to New York City, New York, where she took summer acting workshops at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She took bartending jobs and became part of NYC’s sketch comedy world to support herself. Aspiring to further her acting career, she moved to Los Angeles, California.

Ariana soon found herself doing bit parts in sketch comedies for the TV series “The CollegeHumor Show” (2009) and “NFL Writers Room” (2009). She was cast as Ruby in the comedy television series “Tilt-A-World” (2011) before appearing in Charles Band’s comedy horror movie “Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt” (2011) and the TV movie comedy “LoveFinder” (2011). She first appeared in Vanderpump Rules as a backup dancer for primary cast member Scheana Shay when the latter tried her hand at being a pop star. Later, in the second season, she was introduced as SUR’s new barkeep and was given a spot as a central cast member in the famous reality TV show.

Ariana Madix initially did not want to be a reality TV star. Between filming Vanderpump Rules, she continued her acting career. She starred in the television series “Waking Up with Strangers” (2018) and the HBO Max comedy series “The Other Two” (2019).

Vanderpump Rules Storyline for Ariana Madix

Ariana Madix joined Vanderpump Rules during its second season in 2014. Vanderpump Rules followed the lives of SUR Restaurant & Lounge employees as they navigated through their aspiring acting and modeling careers and relationships with each other. The show featured the group’s friendships, affairs, and fights.

Madix was caught in a love triangle when Tom admitted to his then-girlfriend and Pump Rules co-star Kristen Doute that he kissed new SUR bartender Ariana. Kristen did not receive this news well, and she proceeded to make things difficult for both Tom and Ariana.

In season three, Kristen Doute continued with her mission to torture Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix. She became obsessed with the rumor that Tom cheated on Ariana with a local woman named Annemarie during a trip to Miami. With Kristen’s egging, Annemarie flew to Los Angeles, California, and showed up at SUR, where a confrontation between her, Ariana, and Tom ensued. Ariana stood by Tom despite the revelation. Kristen later revealed that she was still in love with Tom and wanted to get him back.

Tom Sandoval celebrated his birthday in Hawaii by season four, where things quickly went downhill for all cast members. Tom proposed moving in together with Ariana to take their relationship to a new level. The couple went back and forth on this life-changing decision before ultimately deciding to try adulting. They eventually settled in a charming West Hollywood apartment.

Season five tested Tom and Ariana’s relationship when Ariana suggested writing a bartending book. Tom admitted to being jealous of the idea and pushed to do the book with her.

Ariana Madix spent most of the seasons six, seven, and eight focusing on her relationship with Tom Sandoval, continuing her modeling and acting career, and finishing her cocktail book with Tom. In 2020, during the annual Pride episode of Vanderpump Rules, Ariana Madix came out as bisexual. She noted that it doesn’t bother her boyfriend Tom (9) and that she feels more free and honest knowing that her truth is out in the open. In February 2022, guesting in Vanderpump Rules co-star Scheana Shay’s “Scheananigans” podcast, she also revealed that she was struggling with an eating disorder during the show’s first two seasons (10).
