Brittany Cartwright attended George Rogers Clark High School. After graduating high school in 2007, she studied nursing at Eastern Kentucky University (6). Brittany claims she’s always been active in school activities, having been into cheerleading since third grade in primary school. With her knowledge and experience in cheerleading, she became part of EKU’s cheerleading team.

Brittany Cartwright's Husband and Family Life

Brittany Cartwright is married to Jax Taylor. The former Vanderpump Rules co-stars married on June 29, 2019, at Kentucky Castle in Versailles, Kentucky (7). The wedding, officiated by Jax’s friend and Just Add X business partner Lance Bass, was attended by their families and friends, including their Pump Rules co-stars.

The pair announced their engagement on June 7, 2018. Jax proposed to Brittany at the low-key Malibu, California beachside restaurant Neptune’s Net (8). He popped the long-awaited question with a customized Kyle Chan-designed cushion-cut halo diamond engagement ring. Taylor proclaimed the happy news on Instagram, noting that he chose the place to pop the question because it’s one of his and Brittany’s favorite places to eat in Malibu.

Cartwright and Taylor had been dating for four years before getting engaged. They met at Gold Spike Lounge in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2015. Jax was on a date with a different woman but got so smitten by Brittany at first sight that he decided to leave his date and go hang out with her. He asked for her number, and they soon started texting and calling each other. The duo moved in together in Jax’s West Hollywood apartment a few months after meeting. Brittany secured a job as a SURver in Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR Restaurant & Lounge and later got introduced as a recurring character in Vanderpump Rules.

After being promoted as one of the reality series’ main characters, Cartwright and Taylor were offered the Vanderpump Rules spin-off reality television show “Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky”. The one-season six-episode series followed the couple’s experience visiting Brittany’s family farm in Winchester, Kentucky. The pair was featured doing manual farm labor, hanging out with locals, and Jax meeting Brittany’s family. They served as producers along with Lisa Vanderpump and her husband, Ken Todd.

In September 2020, Taylor and Cartwright announced they were expecting their first child. They welcomed their son, Cruz Michael Cartwright Cauchi, on April 12, 2021, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Brittany suffered through 27 hours of intense labor (9) before delivering Cruz Michael. They decided to give their son Catholic names to honor their religious backgrounds. Brittany shared that Cruz means “cross”, and Michael is Jax’s middle name and his uncle and godfather’s name (10). She added that Michael is her mother’s favorite boy’s name. Before having Cruz Michael, Taylor and Cartwright adopted their Yorkshire Terrier Kingsley and micro poodle Monroe. Jax adopted Monroe as a Christmas gift for Brittany.

During the season six premiere of Vanderpump Rules, Faith Stowers revealed that she and Jax Taylor had an affair in the previous season. Faith maintained that Jax told her they could see each other because his relationship with Brittany was over. As a fallout of this revelation, Jax and Brittany broke up, reasoning that they needed to reevaluate the future of their relationship. The pair reconciled by December 2017, claiming their connection was more secure than ever.

Brittany Cartwright's Career

After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University, Brittany Cartwright dabbled in modeling. She did lingerie and swimsuit photoshoots. She also modeled for the coveted Harley Davidson calendars. Cartwright was a regular in the beauty pageant circuit, competing in her home state of Kentucky and the pageant-rich state of Florida. She claims to have won 11 titles during her competition days.

Leaving her pageant competition days behind, Brittany got a waitressing job at a Hooters (11) branch in Las Vegas. After meeting her future husband, Jax Taylor, Cartwright moved to Los Angeles to be with him. Jax suggested that she try her hand at serving at SUR. Brittany applied for a job, but Lisa Vanderpump was initially reluctant to let her join her crew. Lisa eventually relented, citing she liked Brittany’s sunny personality, which she admits sets Brittany apart from her other SURver.

As one of the most famous cast members, Brittany and Jax were offered the Vanderpump Rules spin-off show “Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky” (12). The one-season series chronicled the duo’s experience while visiting Brittany’s Kentucky hometown. In December 2020, after mounting scandals against them, Taylor and Cartwright were fired from Vanderpump Rules. The firing came after fans of the show rallied for producers to let go of the couple after repeated misogynist and racial violations committed by the pair. Brittany and Jax denied that they were fired from the series and instead maintained that it was they who decided to leave the show to focus their attention on raising their family.

Brittany Cartwright successfully converted her reality show fame into business opportunities. Public appearances and hosting engagements compose most of her professional life when she’s not shooting for Vanderpump Rules. Her paid public appearances net her generous, steady income and product endorsements on her social media platforms. After being fired from Vanderpump Rules, her reputation as a famous influencer became her primary career. She has partnered with various brands, selling their products and services on her successful and verified Amazon Live Page. Her most recent brand partnership is with fitness company Jenny Craig, which came into fruition after a slew of online harassment and bullying about her weight that she suffered after the birth of her son Cruz Michael. Brittany is the brand ambassador (13) for the company’s “Max Up” Program.

Vanderpump Rules Storyline for Brittany Cartwright

After moving to Los Angeles, California, to be with Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright started as a recurring guest star during the fifth season of Vanderpump Rules. The reality television series, which airs on the Bravo Network, is produced by Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen. The show followed the lives of Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR Restaurant & Lounge employees as they navigated through their personal and professional relationships while trying their luck for a career in Hollywood.

Brittany’s boyfriend and primary cast member, Jax Taylor, suggested she try her luck as a SURver at SUR. Lisa Vanderpump was wary of letting her join her team, but she gave Brittany a shot after liking her go-getter personality. Vanderpump liked that Cartwright was willing to roll up her sleeves and work. At the time of Brittany’s application, SUR needed a couple of waitresses, and with her Hooters experience, she fit the job description like a glove.

Before moving to LA and joining SUR, viewers first glimpse Brittany Cartwright in season three. The pair met during an episode featuring Jax’s trip to Las Vegas. It was love at first sight meeting, and soon, the couple started dating. After a few months, Brittany moved into Jax’s West Hollywood apartment. As a return for moving her entire life to be with him, Jax paid for her new breast implants.

By season five, Cartwright was involved in a scandal after Taylor started spreading rumors that she and Pump Rules cast member Kristen Doute were hooking up while dating Jax. Brittany denied the rumors, insisting that Jax is being malicious over her friendship with his two-time hook-up, Kristen. By the end of the season, Jax and Brittany’s spin-off series “Vanderpump Rules: Jax and Brittany Take Kentucky” was announced. The news caused jealousy and tension within the Pump Rules crew. Lisa Vanderpump explained to everyone that it’s a one-off series that will only feature Jax and Brittany’s experience as they visit Brittany’s hometown in Kentucky.

Cartwright became a primary cast member by season six. During the season’s premiere, Brittany learned about Jax cheating on her with fellow SURver Faith Stowers. Faith maintained that Jax told her that he and Brittany were already over when he started seducing her. Cartwright broke up with Taylor over the infidelity scandal. She cited that she needed time to reevaluate her feelings for him and how they could move forward from the scandal. The couple reunited by December 2017, and by season seven’s premiere, after his father’s death and precisely six months after reconciling, Jax Taylor proposed to Brittany in Malibu, California. Cartwright’s family had reservations about Taylor but respected her decision to marry him. The pair got married in Kentucky Castle in Versailles, Kentucky.

In December 2020, two months after announcing that they were expecting their first child together, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright were fired (14) from Vanderpump Rules following fan outrage over the couple’s behavior on the show. Bravo Network was flooded by complaints about their racist and misogynistic actions, and the producers had no choice but to let them go. They denied they were fired through similar Instagram statements, insisting they decided to leave the show to focus on their growing family.

In an interview given in November 2021, the couple expressed their sadness over not having any communication with their former boss, Lisa Vanderpump (15). While Jax confidently said he doesn’t miss being part of the reality series, Brittany confessed that she missed being part of it and working with their colleagues, who are also their friends. Taylor announced that he and Brittany are planning their show, which will be entirely different from Vanderpump Rules.
