Apart from being Vanderpump Rules co-stars, Sandoval and Madix are co-authors of the cocktail book “Fancy AF Cocktails: Drink Recipes From a Couple of Professional Drinkers” (6). They plan to write more books together.

Before dating Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval was in a turbulent on-again, off-again relationship with fellow Vanderpump Rules cast member Kristen Doute. Though the show portrayed Tom as an unfaithful boyfriend, it was later revealed that Kristen cheated on him with Vanderpump Rules co-star Jax Taylor, which led to their break up.

Tom Sandoval's Career

After graduating from Hazelwood West High School in 2000, Tom Sandoval left St. Louis, Missouri, to pursue a career in modeling and acting. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, California, he quickly got a job modeling for commercial brands like Abercrombie & Fitch. This stint led to being cast as Jack in singer Bon Jovi’s music videos for “Misunderstood” and “All About Lovin’ You”. He also acted in Kill the Noise and Feed Me’s music video for their song “I Do Coke”. He then appeared as a model in the first season of MTV’s smash hit reality TV series The Hills (2006).

Film director David DeCoteau takes credit for discovering Tom Sandoval. He first cast him in his R-rated thriller “Playing with Fire” (2008) (7). This partnership led to two more collaborations, “Alien Presence” and “The Pit and the Pendulum,” both in 2009. Tom went on to appear in one more David DeCoteau project, “Puppet Master: Axis of Evil” (2010), before being cast in Clint Lien’s horror thriller “Behind Your Eyes” (2011). On the set of “Behind Your Eyes,” Tom first met his future girlfriend and Vanderpump Rules co-star Kristen Doute. The two went on to co-star with legendary actor Eric Roberts in Jay Kanzler’s fantasy horror drama “23 Minutes to Sunrise” (2012).

Tom Sandoval broke out in 2013 when Vanderpump Rules debuted. Acting took a backseat because of his Vanderpump Rules busy schedule though he was able to commit to minor roles in short films, television series, and TV movies. Some of these credits include the Philip Alexander directed short film “Tango Amaro” (2014), TV series “Social Status” (2015), and the Lauro David Chartrand-DelValle directed TV movie “Dying for a Baby” (2019). Between his Vanderpump Rules and acting commitments, Tom is also a musician. He plays the guitar for his band Pierce the Arrow. Sandoval also converted his reality TV star success to hosting gigs and product endorsements. With his good looks and modeling background, Tom partnered with Stryx (8), a male skincare brand, where he served as their brand ambassador.

Today, Tom Sandoval co-manages the TomTom Restaurant & Bar with his best friend Tom Schwartz. “The Toms”, as fans endearingly call them, co-owns the West Hollywood restaurant & bar with their SUR Restaurant & Lounge boss Lisa Vanderpump and her husband, Ken Todd. He is still listed as a central cast member of Vanderpump Rules.

Vanderpump Rules Storyline for Tom Sandoval

Tom Sandoval was announced as one of the primary cast members of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spin-off Vanderpump Rules (10), along with fellow SURvers Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor, Stassi Schroeder, Katie Maloney (later known as Katie Maloney-Schwartz), and Scheana Shay. The show debuted in 2013 and recently wrapped its ninth season. Its cast members worked for SUR Restaurant & Lounge owner Lisa Vanderpump. The Andy Cohen produced Bravo! reality television series followed the lives of the six SUR Restaurant & Lounge employees as they navigate through their aspiring showbiz careers and interpersonal lives together. The show featured the friendships and various fights and affairs among its employees.

Tom was introduced as the pub’s barkeep for the show’s first season. Much of his screen time evolved around his tumultuous relationship with his girlfriend and co-star Kristen Doute.

During the second season, Tom admitted to Kristen that he kissed new SUR bartender Ariana Madix. This admission led Kristen to spiral and decide to make things very complicated for Tom. Katie Maloney told Stassi Schroeder the rumor about Kristen and Jax Taylor slept together. The talk proved accurate, which led to an iconic confrontation between Stassi and Kristen. By the show’s season finale, tensions are at a fever pitch. Tom punched Jax at Scheana’s engagement party before leaving the party with Kristen.

Season three brought more trouble for Tom and Ariana as Kristen set out to ruin their relationship. Kristen became obsessed with a rumor that Tom cheated on Ariana during a trip to Miami. She convinced the supposed other woman, Annemarie, to show up at SUR; confrontation ensued but ended with Ariana Madix standing by Tom. It was revealed later in the season that Kristen is still in love with Tom.

In season four, the cast flew to Hawaii to celebrate Tom Sandoval’s birthday, only for things to go sideways with Jax Taylor getting arrested for stealing a pair of sunglasses. Tom and Ariana decided to try adulting by moving in together. The end of the season featured Tom launching his music career with a live performance at SUR.

Season five brought Tom to new heights, with Lisa Vanderpump seeing the potential in him and his best friend, Tom Schwartz. The Toms offered to chip in $50,00 each in exchange for a 5% ownership stake of TomTom Restaurant & Bar (11), which Lisa accepted. Tensions arise between The Toms as Tom Schwartz tries to juggle his relationship with Katie, building TomTom with Sandoval, and conflicts with other co-stars. Ariana Madix raised the possibility of writing a bartending book alone which led to Tom’s jealousy fit. He decided to dive back into acting and modeling and focus on building TomTom.

Tom Sandoval spent most of the seasons six, seven, and eight focusing on his relationship with Ariana Madix, relaunching his music, modeling, and acting career, finishing his cocktail book with Ariana, and managing the success of TomTom. Vanderpump Rules continues to be one of the most successful Bravo! television series. Tom Sandoval continues to be one of its most famous primary cast members.
