Shawn Trujillo used to be a hairdresser and still is now that he and his reality star wife, Angie Katsanevas, run Lunatic Fringe. In 1999, the hairdressing pair formed a partnership and founded the salon in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In the two decades since it first opened its doors, Lunatic Fringe has expanded to more than 10 locations across four states. Classic hairstyles on TV and in movies during the 1980s influenced both of them, and they knew they wanted to work in the hair industry from an early age.
It didn’t take long for Lunatic Fringe to gain cult status. Only two years after opening their 600-square-foot business, they moved into a larger facility that was more than double the size of the first branch. Four years after opening their first store, the two have now established their second in Salt Lake City.
Like many other creatives, the pair wasn’t satisfied with simply leaving their mark on the Salt Lake City area. Five years later, they teamed with another couple to open a second location in Idaho. Since then, Lunatic Fringe has expanded to include two more Ohio locations and three Tennessee locations.
