Ann Kaplan was born in Winnipeg, the capital and largest city of the province of Manitoba in Canada on November 2, 1960. However, because of her parents’ work she grew up and lived abroad in New Zealand. She has also lived in Victoria, British Columbia. Her parents are both medical doctors. Her father is radiologist and internist while her mom is a psychologist. (2)
Ann Kaplan is free spirited, because of this and despite of her good relationship with her family, she left her childhood home at the age of 15.
Growing up, she is most specially close to her Dad. She fondly describes him as the most irritating person she’s ever known, extremely eccentric, but caring. Kaplan’s love for her Dad was felt when she took good care of him when he fell sick.
She could still vividly remember the time when he finally joined God. Thinking of that moment still brings to her eyes. Despite the grief and pain that she and her family had felt, she was somewhat grateful that his pain was no more. Kaplan’s father had been seek for 17 years, his body filled with various forms of cancer.
Ann Kaplan describes the death of her father as the worst and greatest moment in her life because when her father died in her arms, she felt like as if he was hanging on for her. She thought that her father might have think that she couldn’t deal with the grief of her passing. Kaplan has a sister named Joan, who unfortunately died of cancer in 2014.

Dr Ann Kaplan is the appropriate name she should be addressed as in recognition of her tireless journey in education. Ann Kaplan studied in Rotman School of Management in the University of Toronto where she got her in Business and an MBA in Business and Finance. She then studied in Henley Business School at the University of Reading, where she received her MSc and DBA and then a ICD.d from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Ann Kaplan married twice. Her first marriage lasted for only 5 years and they bore two children. In their 5 years of marriage, Ann knew that they weren’t compatible enough to last a lifetime. But she doesn’t care about him that much anymore because she is married to the man of her dreams.
Ann Kaplan is married to Dr. Stephen Mulholland a Canadian plastic surgeon, former professional ice hockey player and founder of SpaMedica, an aesthetic plastic surgery center in Toronto, Canada. Like Kaplan, Mulholland also had two kids of his own. Kaplan explained during an interview that they had two mergers, two acquisitions and two start-ups totaling to six children, the couple’s children from previous marriage and two of their own.
Dr. Stephen Mulholland and Ann Kaplan met in New Orleans. Kaplan worked for a company that had a booth during a plastic surgery conference in the area. Some of their mutual friends and colleagues introduced them to each other. Ann Kaplan didn’t know that he was actually interested in her, so he kind of chased her for over a year.
During another conference, this time in Seattle, Dr. Stephen Mulholland finally had the courage to tell her about his feelings. Despite the confession, the couple would not date until three months later because Kaplan was unsure of her feelings.
After three months, the couple went on a date. Stephen Mulholland took Kaplan to Kentucky Fried Chicken. She was a Vegan, so they ended up leaving the place and transferring to Golden Griddle, where she only ate crackers.
Several years later, they got engaged. They were vacationing in Hawaii with each of their children from previous marriages, when Stephen got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The ring he gave her was a Cartier gold band. After the proposal, they watched a movie.
Their wedding happened in front of the Delano Hotel in Miami, Florida. It was just a small wedding composed of the couple, the priest, and two witnesses. The wedding gown she wore was brought on the same day of the wedding and she didn’t wear any shoes, for her the important thing was they are together.
As of the moment, the couple have eight kids in total. They each have two kids from their previous marriages, two of their own, and the other two were Ann Kaplan’s niece and nephew. The custody of her niece and nephew was given to her by her sister, Joan, who was at that time was dying of cancer. Her nephew Rock once suffered from injuries from a failed viral video stunt.
The action angered her, and being the disciplinarian that she is, she prohibited him from all social media and then she sent him off to a private military school.

Before becoming a millionaire, Ann Kaplan was working in an interior design store.
Back in 1995, while still married to her first husband, Ann Kaplan had her genius idea, the Medicard. During that period, the Canadian government was cutting back its funding on elective surgeries. In just less than two year after starting Medicard, she was able to generate three million dollars worth of business.
After many years and a couple of degrees later, her company is worth millions of dollars. It has also expanded through the years, encompassing financing for plastic surgery, dental and veterinary treatments, and lastly technology and home improvements.
