When AJ Galante was a New Fairfield High School student, he served as the hockey team’s backup captain. He suffered a severe knee injury in his final year. He was a defenseman in a hockey game when he unintentionally hit a kid. After that, he was attacked by players from the opposition, which severely injured his knee.
He could no longer play hockey as a result of the incident. In April 2004, Jimmy, his father, bought the Danbury Trashers, a minor league hockey franchise, as a gift for his son. Jimmy loved his kid dearly. AJ can still clearly recall how the decision to purchase the hockey team was made.
When AJ and his family were eating dinner, his father suddenly exclaimed, “If I ever buy a hockey team, you are going to run it,” He answered, “Yea, sure.” Then, Jimmy announced that he had purchased the hockey team just two days later.
Between 2004 and 2006, the hockey team, the Danbury Trashers, gained notoriety for its fights and rough play on the ice. The crowd enjoyed every league game, and as the team’s general manager, AJ was in charge. However, the hockey team was disbanded following Jimmy’s imprisonment in 2006.
After that, AJ began driving trucks for a bit. At least twice per month, he used to see his father. After one of his buddies requested assistance in managing a fighter in 2011, AJ decided to enter the world of boxing as a manager. He then opened a Champs Boxing Club in Danbury as a result.
