This is a royal nightmare and an explosive claim to make.

Meghan Markle, the former actress turned Duchess of Sussex, has garnered a massive fan base worldwide. However, she has also faced persistent criticism from those who seem to scrutinize her every move.

Regarding her statement of her friendship with the late Queen Elizabeth II during her interview with Variety, for example, there have been debates. Some royal critics claim that no matter what she does, Meghan seems to be stuck in a never-ending loop where she can never win.

After splitting with her public relations firm, Sunshine Sachs, renowned royal commentator, Neil Sean says that Meghan is trying to reinvent herself. According to Sean, she is attempting to project a more approachable image by trying to come across as a relatable mother of two, saying in his video commentary, “They’ve got a brand-new team working alongside Meghan and Harry, rebranding them as ‘ordinary folk,’ people out and about. A simple mom making ‘a solid Bolognese sauce.’”

Sean also makes reference to Meghan’s most recent interview with Variety, in which she discusses some of her personal favorites and divulges lesser-known facts about her. The interview attempts to humanize the Duchess in the eyes of the public by showcasing a funnier, more carefree side of her.

While Sean recognizes Prince Harry’s marketability due to his extensive royal family background, he claims that over the past few years, Harry’s popularity in the UK has declined due to what he calls “silly actions.” One particularly notable example is Harry’s widely reported interview with Oprah Winfrey last year.

“A new idea that they’re trying to push forward is that concerning Prince Harry,” Sean explained. “And when you think about it, he’s probably the most marketable one of the two because he comes with more of a solid background. Years and years of wonderful royal history attached to his name.”

As per Sean, regardless of what Meghan says or does during an interview, there will always be someone who finds fault with her as he stated: “With Meghan Markle, it’s a difficult thing because whichever way you look at it, she’s divisive. Every time she puts something out, whether it be an interview, a podcast, a speech, seemingly everything backfires. But now, according to a very good source, Meghan feels it’s a case of ‘I simply can’t win.’”

Meghan briefly discussed her connection with Queen Elizabeth II during her interview with Variety, noting the warmth they had and hailing the queen’s reign as a role model for strong female leadership. Sean argues that Meghan would have faced backlash if she had skipped the homage to the late queen.

However, incorporating the tribute can potentially elicit disapproval from royal observers. Sean contends that any decision would have exposed the Duchess to criticism, remarking“Meghan, according to a very good source, has hit back basically claiming she couldn’t win either way, so she decided to include her own personal tribute into the Variety piece.”

“[This was because] if she didn’t include it, people would say that she was being insincere, unkind, and not showing respect. But of course, if she does include it, then people are accusing her of basically running on the back of our late monarch.”

In addition, Sean thinks that before making her own public words on Queen Elizabeth, Meghan should have waited for the Prince and Princess of Wales and King Charles to make their statements. He speculates that Meghan’s remarks regarding the queen could have been a calculated ploy to get media attention and argues that Prince Harry may not have fully trained her in the royal procedure.

“Some might say, of course, that by including Her Majesty the Queen, this ensured a lot of headlines alongside the other debacle of the Deal or No Deal,” opines Sean. He concurs that, in this situation, Meghan finds herself in a seemingly unwinnable position where pleasing everyone remains an impossible task.
