He expressed his reservations about watching the show, saying that it "might be painful" and also had nothing but praise for the new series.

As a prominent figure in the “Game of Thrones” universe for eight seasons, Kit Harington’s association with the acclaimed HBO fantasy series extends far beyond its 2019 finale. His life and career have been deeply intertwined with the show, and it even influences the actor’s life as it continues to resonate, not only for catapulting him to stardom but also for introducing him to his wife, fellow actor Rose Leslie, and the mother of his child.

In light of HBO’s recent expansion of the “Game of Thrones” universe with the prequel series “House of the Dragon,” Harington initially expressed hesitation during an interview with Insider, forecasting it to be a “painful” experience. His attachment to the series and his character were such that witnessing others embody similar roles and scenarios, hearing the familiar music, and observing the same tone without his participation, was projected to bring about an emotional challenge.

However, after viewing the first half of the inaugural season of “House of the Dragon,” Harington found himself revising his previous sentiments. During a press interaction at the Toronto International Film Festival, where he was promoting his film “Baby Ruby,” Harington confessed to Entertainment Tonight Canada that he was “really enjoying” the prequel.

The subject of “House of the Dragon” came up again during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter while discussing his new film, Blood For Lust.” He confessed that although he hadn’t yet completed watching the entire first season, he was very impressed with the execution of the show by the cast and crew. He attributed his incomplete viewing to a busy schedule but intended to catch up and complete the season.

He said at that time, “You know, I’ve fallen off a bit — not because I’m not enjoying it — but just been very busy. But I’m gonna catch up. I’m sort of halfway through the season. I need to watch the second half, so I’m gonna try and avoid any kind of spoilers. I mean, it’s great. They’ve done a brilliant job with it. I’m really impressed with that show and how they’ve continued it.”

Jon Snow spinoff

Adding to Harington’s connection with the “Game of Thrones” universe, reports last summer suggested that Harington had proposed a sequel series focusing on Jon Snow to HBO. His “Game of Thrones” co-star, Emilia Clarke, and the original series author, George R. R. Martin, both verified that this sequel was in its preliminary stages of development.

Emphasizing the significance of Harington’s involvement, Clarke told the BBC“It’s been created by Kit as far as I can understand, so he’s in it from the ground up. So what you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington.” Likewise, on his blog, George R. R. Martin confirmed the development of the Jon Snow sequel, indicating that its provisional title was “Snow” and that the story picks up from where “Game of Thrones” left off.

Despite the discussions swirling around the sequel, when queried about it by The Hollywood Reporter, Harington chose to sidestep the question, claiming no knowledge of the subject. Whether this veiled response implies further developments or is simply an attempt to avoid speculation remains to be seen, leaving “Game of Thrones” fans with much to anticipate.
