Tia had laparoscopic surgery, and only two years later, she was in extreme pain again. She had another surgery and used birth control and pain medication to manage her symptoms.

However, the actress felt upset because she couldn’t find a longer-lasting fix. She also understood that becoming a mother might be challenging due to her condition. She wanted to discover a different way to deal with her illness.

When her doctor recommended improving her diet, Tia felt optimistic, even though it meant letting go of some beloved foods. Back then, her go-to dish was deep-fried cheese tortellini. However, Mowry was determined to make adjustments that could enhance her well-being.

“That’s fruits, vegetables, seeds, and whole grains,” Tia shares to PEOPLE. “It’s foods that are not processed and packaged.”

Being a busy mom, Tia joined forces with Baileys to introduce their new almond milk liqueur called Almande, which is dairy-free and gluten-free. She always tries to include these foods in her hectic schedule.

“Smoothies are the perfect way to get your fruits and vegetables all in one sitting. It’s so easy, it’s quick, you just throw everything in a blender, and then you’re ready to go and go about your day,” she says. “Smoothies are definitely something that I load up on every single day. That’s my go-to.”

In her typical daily menu, Tia eats kale and almond fried rice for lunch after having gluten-free pancakes. For dinner, she prefers a light fish dish paired with vegetables.

“What I eat and what I put into my body is extremely important to me,” Tia shares.

Apart from maintaining a healthy diet, Tia uses fermented foods to combat the intense abdominal pain from her endometriosis. With guidance from a dietician, she found that foods like miso, kimchi, and sauerkraut have healing benefits.

“A lot of people don’t know about fermented foods and their benefits,” she says. “They are loaded with good bacteria that just keep the gut flora nice and balanced and able to fight off inflammation and free radicals in the body.”
