After uploading a video of discussing active shooter training with her 5-year-old son as he got ready for school, an Oklahoma mother went viral on Tiktok.
Realizing that parents must prepare their children for unexpected incidents such as gunning—which should never happen—is a painful reality to face. On the contrary, it’s admirable to see a child and mother preparing for a possible event.
The video shows the mother questioning her son on what he would do if he overheard the principal announce a shooting over the intercom.

As the video continues, Walton congratulates her kid on doing a good job as he hides in a bedroom corner while demonstrating how he would use his bulletproof Spider-Man backpack as a shield to defend himself.
In addition, she instructs her kid to “remain totally silent” if there is a shooter inside the classroom and police enforce the door and ask if anybody is inside. She also advises her kid to flee the school as quickly as he can if he manages to do so.
The video has now garnered 7.5 million views on TikTok and accumulated 42.7k comments. The majority of the users commended the mother for doing a good job for her son’s safety.
One user wrote: “I’m so sorry you have to teach this to your child, but good job Mom.” Another user replied on it, “I’m bawling!! We shouldn’t have to have conversations like this with our kids!!!”
