She now has three Grammy Awards under her belt.
On Sunday, Olivia Rodrigo was named best new artist, received the prestigious best pop vocal album award for her debut album, “Sour,” and best pop vocal performance award at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
Rodrigo began her acceptance speech with award in hand, saying, “Thank you so much to the Recording Academy. This is my biggest dream come true… Thank you to everyone at Interscope, especially John Janick, for believing in me and my songwriting before anything else.”
She also expresses gratitude to her parents, particularly her mother, “for being supportive of my dreams, no matter how crazy,” and goes on to thank her team, specifically mentioning Dan Nigro, a fellow songwriter, “Dan, you are the best friend, collaborator and person I could ever ask for, so this is all because of you, so thank you.”
The 19-year-old singer who wore a Vivienne Westwood’s black sheath gown with a pink trompe l’oeil design and matching gloves, has also been lauded for walking the Grammys red carpet with a sign language interpreter, prompting “Coda” actress Marlee Matlin to compliment her on social media.
“Thank you @oliviarodrigo for having an ASL interpreter with you on the red carpet! You ROCK! 🤟🏼🤟🏼,” she wrote on Twitter.
The Filipino-American artist is up for seven Grammys, which include Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video, as reported by Page Six.
She won Best Pop Solo Performance for “Drivers License” during the Grammys pre-show, which she performed during the ceremony.
